We are quite remote but a railway station and supermarket are within walking distance.
You will need strong, preferably waterproof footwear and warm clothing is advisable for the colder months
You will be helping to care for animals which means the working day is split into two shifts. Morning, which is the longer shift and late afternoon when you will be getting them comfortable for the night. The hours in the middle of the day are free.
The work involved is mainly with the horses, handling them and caring for them on a day to day basis, it is outside in all weather and physical, although not excessively so. Experience is preferred but not entirely necessary as we are happy to help you learn as you go. ** Please remember horses are big, powerful, majestic animals, if this worries you then sadly it’s not the experience for you. ***😊 Riding is not involved. It can be wet, cold and muddy, it can also be stunningly beautiful and a wonderful place to be. We work as a team. You will be living as one of the family.

Terri, Andy and the whole Highgrove family are really wonderful, they care about the well-being of the volunteers, my stay was enjoyable, they delivered as agreed, their pets are beautiful and polite, the horses quite calm, the place overall quite welcoming. I can't thank them enough for the hospitality and trust they gave me in my first volunteering.

The experience at higrove house was very good, I am very grateful to Terri and family for their patience in communicating with me, as I am starting in the English language. Higrove is a very pleasant place for those who are in contact with animals and want a little peace of mind while travelling. Therefore, to be here it is important that you like animals and living with them. Terri and Andy are wonderful people. As for the work and the structure offered, I didn't have any problems, everything was done exactly as agreed and offered in wordpackers.

I had already volunteered there and I did it again because I had a problem with my former volunteer that left me with nowhere to go
I asked Terri if I could come back and she accepted me again it helped me a lot
Seriously I just have to thank this amazing place with these wonderful people

I liked the experience with horses, they are very tender, friendly and intelligent animals. I met wonderful people, I enjoyed the landscapes and hiking near the place, I loved all the dinners, we shared with Gloria's cats and with her and we enjoyed our space Thank you for our stay

It was a really nice experience, the work is simple and it is not hard when there are three people or more, the horses are very cute and the dogs too. The town or villa is a 20-minute walk away and a bus passes every hour, there are many walks to do nearby. The dinners are delicious. In general, a recommended experience.
