Mountain Light Sanctuary

We are 35 minutes north of Asheville, North Carolina and located directly across the creek from the national forrest so you have the beauty and tranquility of nature and yet close enough to a vibrant and very progressive small city with lots of activities. It's really perfect for nature lovers who also enjoy outdoor work - up to three hours a day for each nights lodging. Mountain Light Sanctuary is a retreat center with many creative and whimsical accommodations including The Hermitage, Balihouse, Treehouse, Frodo's, Narnia, Enchantment, Rivendell, Merlinwood and a Gypsy Wagon. We don't have any paid stay but rather a constant flow of volunteers, a few of which have become permanent residents. Our current residents are from Brazil, Canada and the USA. We are pretty laid back with few rules except to treat others the way you want to be treated.
