Simoonga Thandizani Trust School

Simoonga Thandizani Trust was set up in 2010. The school is a charity entity whose sole existence depends on volunteers and the donor community at large. The school has expanded in size over the years and now runs from preschool to grade 7-with an enrollment of 380 pupils.

The school provides free education, including lunch from Monday to Friday to all the pupils. The pupils who belong to the school are from Simoonga Village and the surrounding communities. Most of the children who learn at Simoonga Thandizani Trust School come from poor homes, since their parents are either unemployed or if employed, they do not earn enough money to support their families.

The school is looking for volunteers who are interested in teaching, environment care, health and nutrition, sports, computer and internet, art (fine and performing). Simoonga Thandizani Trust School is keen on having volunteers with a variety of skills and experiences that they can give and share with the school.

When you arrive for your volunteer placement with us, our staff will spend time with you to show you around the school & village, explain our history, values, and goals, and of course meet all the children. We do this to ensure you are comfortable here with us and get the most of your time at Simoonga Thandizani Trust School.

We offer accommodation on the school grounds and small kitchen for volunteer use, as well as shower and toilet facilities. The rooms are your own and safe to store all of your belongings while volunteering with us. The kitchen also contains pots, pans, cutlery, cups, glasses, utensils and an electric cook top. We will also arrange transport with you from Livingstone to our school to make your arrival as easy as possible. Lunch is included on the days school is in session.

We will arrange daytrips and tours while you stay with us so you can enjoy the beautiful area we are situated in. We offer trips to Chobe National Park, Victoria Falls,
and a game drive to Mosi-ao-Tunya.

Package Fee Per Person Per Day: $10.00

Kindly note that these per person rates includes

- Room Accommodation
- Lunch for the stipulated duration

- Utilities(electricity, water, security)
For a group of five and above , a discount can be worked out.

We have 16 employees (10 teachers, 2 cooks, 2 office workers, 1 housekeeper, 1 Director). While you are staying here with us, we will also offer one housekeeper (Monde) to help you directly making food, laundry, or just having good conversation. The school is situated in the community with affordable amenities nearby. The Simoonga Village values and unity will provide a safe and welcoming atmosphere while you are staying with us.
