2 months seems like a long time. However, you need the time to understand all the jobs and time to get to know the staff and the locals. Lieze runs a tight ship but for a reason, it's an amazing establishment and she's very experienced, warm hearted and caring. Going into this experience with an open mind is the best thing you can do. Being a extrovert helps as you meet and serve a lot of people working behind the bar. the hostel is a special place with amazing people. I truly had the best time, experienced some amazing things and have made friends for life. I cried on the way to the airport.

My experience at the hostel went very well. The bar and restaurant gave me the chance to meet lots of locals and, of course, chat with the backpacker guests. The hostel is very clean and feels like home. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and helpful whenever you need assistance. The tasks are sometimes repetitive, but working at the hostel makes it possible to meet some incredible people in a beautiful area. I would 100% recommend volunteering in the hostel and I hope to come back again.

Great place and amazing people. Sometimes the shifts can be long but not too often. It's super safe in the area and the locals are nice. I'll definitely find myself back in wildernis in the future!

Volunteering at the hostel was amazing and incredible. People there were kind, friendly and always honest with me. The tasks and the work shifts were long sometimes, especially during the high season, but the place and the environment were absolutely worth it. I met a lot of local people and international travelers, with which I create deep and true relationships. I miss everyone so much yet. There will be always a place in my heart for all of them. Thank you the hostel for this priceless experience.

Federica is a matured, respectful , friendly, open minded and kind woman - her time here was too short... She never complained about anything even when work was hard at times. She has a caring heart and was very kind to the local staff. She went out of her way to help where she saw people had need. Thank you Federica!!

I would recommend her to any position she should apply for. She is greatly missed. I would love her to come back one day, even just to visit...

This experience at the hostel was AWESOME. The local team is sociable, kind and take the time to learn you everything. The hostel is perfect to stay 2 months and the village has evrything you need to live. The manager and the owner help you to find your place in this new world. Lekker!

Benjamin immediately jumped in and was hands on in all tasks required of him, from washing dishes to checking in guests, serving at the bar and interacting with them. He is punctual and sociable with guests and staff. Everybody loved him. He had a great attitude from the start. he is surely missed.

My experience in the hostel was really true adventure. I learned a lot about South Africa, meeting local and going around in wonderful landscapes! The work at the hostel sometimes is super busy and you work a lot! But you can balance the long shifts and have plenty of time free to explore the hostel and travel around the Garden Route! The team work and other volunteers were a gift in my life, i made friendships that i will never forget, i miss them so much. Two months that was difficult say good bye! Thanks Annie and especially a Lieze for the communication to make a better place for us.

Raquel is a lovely kind soft and fare human being! She is a hard worker and were loved by our local - and volunteering staff. She was always smiling. She is diligent and punctual.
It is so sad that two months went by so quickly and to see her go..
I know she will be an asset to any other volunteering - or permanent positions she may apply for...

Raquel, you are missed!!
Sorry for the late review ( by now you know about the loadshedding and it's getting worse :-)

„Came for the surf, stayed for the people.“ The place is as beautiful as the country and I met a lot of nice locals, travellers and volunteers. Annie the owner is a lovely person and always greets you with a smile and I had a lot of fun with the staff. However it was not everything perfect. They dont have functional surfboards to use and you need to put in effort to surf. Also the manager is a very mood swelling person and made the life as a volunteer hard somedays. But the place, the view and especially the friends and people I met made it an amazing trip and a time I will never forget :)

I am pretty certain that the review of the host about me will be not positive as well. I got a review about my stay before I even arrived home with its sole purpose to compromise my review. I was really curious why there is no single review of this place on this website, even though they had many volunteers over the years. I even texted former volunteers who had worked there, but no one answered. Now I know. In short - excentric, power-loving, and irrational Manager - all available Surfboards are broken - small eating portions when you get food

I am sorry you feel this way... Worldpackers asked me to write a review... It kept popping up before I could continue
