I had a wonderful experience with Girls Can Lead. I came prepared with the programme and activities, but having Jay with me was key to adapting everything on the ground and creating a dynamic environment with the girls. I really enjoyed connecting with them and found the two weeks very rewarding. The accommodation was more challenging for me, so I chose to move elsewhere afterwards. I shared this feedback with the organisation, and they were very open to it and will consider improvements for future volunteers.

The children are wonderful to be around and very eager to learn. They are genuinely happy when someone comes to spend time with them. Most of the children don't have pen to write with. If possible it would be amazing if you could bring pens🖊️ or empty exercise books which you no longer need. It's a meaningful cause but it would benefit from stronger organization and communication. Going forward it could be helpful for the organiser to be more actively involved with the school. Ensure that needs are clearly understood and make the support even more effective. Me and my sister had an amazing time in this volunteer. We stayed with a local family there which totally made the difference. They were lovely and attentive at all times. At the school, you can organize your schedule and help in any way! We did some lessons and also decoration for the classrooms. The staff at the school was kind and welcoming. Truly recommendable experience if you like kids and want to live the authentic Gambian life. And thanks to Ebrima for arranging it all. See you again!🥰

It was a very rewarding experience. Totally immersed in the local culture. The family welcomed me as one of their own and were attentive to me and my needs at all times. They made my experience truly unforgettable. About the stay at the school, the teachers and the children were always very friendly and I had a great time with them. We also did a workshop for the girls in the community which was wonderful. I sincerely recommend the organization Experience as they da lot of social impact work. I am very happy to have had the opportunity to do this volunteer work and to have been a part of it.
