Program Details
Smart Adventure Camp is an English summer camp for children in Poiana Marului, Brasov, Romania, near the Piatra Craiului mountains. The camp runs in three 6-day series between 21 June and 10 July 2026 and is now in its 5th edition.
We are looking for international volunteers to join a small team of Romanian and international volunteers working alongside the main organisers. The aim of the camp is to help children practise English in a natural, active and engaging way: through games, discussions, workshops, outdoor activities, team challenges and informal interaction throughout the day.
Volunteers are part of the daily camp team. They help prepare and run activities, support children during workshops and games, and bring their own ideas into the programme. We already have experience working with international volunteers and provide full support before and during the camp.
Activities & Shift
The expected commitment is around 30 hours per week. The exact rhythm depends on the daily programme, but volunteers usually help during the main activity blocks rather than working all day continuously.
A typical camp day includes an English activity in the first part of the day, followed by workshops, sports or outdoor activities in the afternoon, and a group activity in the evening. Volunteers may help lead or co-lead English sessions, support creative workshops, join outdoor games, help with team challenges, and take part in evening activities such as quizzes, treasure hunts, photo contests or obstacle courses.
The role is active and varied, but also flexible: volunteers can contribute according to their interests, skills and confidence. Activities are coordinated by the organisers, and volunteers work as part of the team rather than independently.
Rules
Volunteers are expected to be responsible, respectful, punctual and actively involved in the camp programme. Since the project works with children, volunteers must follow the organisers’ instructions, respect child safety rules, and behave appropriately at all times.
Volunteers do not replace staff and are not responsible for children on their own. The organisers coordinate the daily schedule, supervision, safety and practical arrangements. Volunteers may lead or support activities, but always within the camp structure and together with the wider team.
We expect volunteers to speak English confidently, communicate openly with the organisers, take initiative when needed, and contribute to a friendly and positive team atmosphere.
