Program Details

At Kyosei Foundation, we believe every girl deserves to go to school — and stay there. Period poverty and a lack of menstrual health education are among the leading causes of school absenteeism and dropout among girls in Tanzania. The Girls' Hope & Youths Initiatives exist to change that, one girl at a time.

Girls’ Hope Initiatives invites individuals, organisations, and community partners to support its Menstrual Hygiene and Health Workshop as volunteers and donors.

Volunteers are responsible for providing guidance, mentorship, and assistance during training sessions, helping create a supportive learning environment for participants. Donors contribute resources that enable the procurement and distribution of reusable sanitary pad kits produced by local tailors and the provision of educational materials.

Activities & Shift

Volunteers are at the heart of the Girls' Hope & Youths Initiatives. Upon joining the programme, each volunteer will:

- Attend an orientation with the Kyosei programme coordinator
- Co-facilitate menstrual hygiene and health education workshops alongside local staff
- Provide mentorship and create a safe, encouraging space for participants
- Support the distribution and use-education of reusable pad kits
- Help prepare and distribute educational materials
- Document workshop activities and participant engagement
- Commit to all safeguarding, cultural sensitivity, and confidentiality requirements

Rules

Without donor support, the Girls' Hope & Youths Initiatives cannot reach the girls who need it most. Donor contributions go directly to:

Reusable pad kits: Made by local tailors in Arusha — dignified, sustainable, and community-sourced
Educational materials: Handouts, visual aids, and resources distributed to every participant
Workshop facilitation: Venue, transport, logistics, and coordinator support costs
Programme expansion: Reaching more schools, more communities, and more girls across Arusha
