I had a really great time volunteering at Baleal Guest House! I loved the strong sense of community in the hostel, and the location is amazing just a few minutes walk from the beach in a calm area. Since it was the off-season and quite rainy in February, I didn't get to teach as much yoga as I had hoped. Still, I'm very grateful for the experience and for everything I learned about teaching yoga.

I had a great time at Baleal, the houses were comfy, and very close to the beach, although is good to know that you'll need to get groceries in a nearby town. The schedule and tasks are well organized and Bruno and Rhavy were very flexible and helpful. It felt like a big family. Miss everyone already!

We had a great time at Baleal Guest House! However, you should know that there is more than just the Baleal Guest House Hostel shown in the pictures. We stayed at Baleal Bay, which is not a hostel but a guest house with only private rooms. As a result, the cultural exchange aspect was not really fulfilled, as there was not much socializing. The work was quite decent and fairly easy. We only had to do 1–2 hours of cleaning per day, with two days off every week, so we had plenty of free time.
Bruno is a nice guy, but he is not around very often and communication was difficult sometimes.

This was my first volunteering experience and mostly it was awesome. The work was really easy (like 3 hours a day) and we had lot of free time to explore the area. Other volunteers were really nice and friendly. Bruno was also nice but when I was there, there was also weird guests and Bruno got lot of complaints about them and 2 volunteers left because of them and I just think that Bruno should have kicked them out earlier (he kicked them out eventually but it was after few months already). Otherwise from that I loved it and had a great time and I genuinely recommend volunteering here.

Great experience! The hostel is very organised and the cleanest accommodation I have experienced so far. The beach is super close and surfboards available. Bruno and the team were great also. I had a lovely time here. Thanks!

I really enjoy teaching yoga at Baleal Guesthouse, the vibe is super relaxed and it feels like a big family rather than a hostel. The beach is really close (5mins walk) which is perfect for surfing, especially in the yoga position I had a lot of freetime🌊. When I arrived I expected the boards for the volunteers to be in a better condition but apart from that, I really like it here, that's why I decided to stay longer. Obrigada Bruno for the opportunity to grow as a yoga teacher and meet amazing people!🧘🏼♀️☀️

I had an amazing month in Baleal!😃 Bruno is a really nice host and always makes sure everything is okay, the tasks are easy and the hostels are really comfortable. There are lots of things to do and see around here, the surf lessons were really fun and I met lots of friendly people from around the world!!🌅🏄🏼♀️💞 Thank you again Bruno for this experience, I really hope to come back in the future!!✨

Being a part of Baleal Team was like a dream come true 😍 I had such an amazing time there that I will never forget! 🌊 I met so many beautiful people, both other volunteers and hostel guests. Bruno is a great guy who cares about volunteers. The work is very easy and enjoyable. You have plenty of time to surf and enjoy Baleal. Nothing beats beautiful sunsets on the cliffs just 2 minutes from the hostel 🌅 Baleal has a lot of cool places to grab coffee or have a drink at night and you always have a group of Baleal friends who wants to join you 😊 I cannot recommend this place enough! 🩵
