Help to run a hostel on the top of a hill near Budapest, Hungary!

The Exchange

On weekdays we need support in the everyday maintenance of the House like house-sitting, cleaning-up the rooms, changing the sheets. On weekends it's more busy as hikers arrive and tourist groups arrive, and we need support more in the kitchen background, like cooking pancakes, preparing vegetables, do the washing up. We always work in team so our volunteer can choose the daily task that fits better for him / her.

Program Details

Our mountain hostel serves hikers and communities that consider nature, peace and cleanliness a value to be preserved. We welcome hikers, families on excursions, attendants and coordinators of groups, associations, meetings, summer schools, self-knowledge groups, camps, and art camps. We have 4 and 8 bed rooms up to 24 persons and camping pitches can also be used around.
The House is located about 10 kilometers north of Budapest between Szentendre and Pomáz cities (approximately an hour’s walk from both). We firstly recommend ourselves for those who like to be in the middle of the nature in a forest, for those who beside working are in the need of a relaxing, regenerating phase in their lives. On the other hand, weekends can be quite busy and social, but one thing is for sure: enough time off will be assured to everyone to keep balance between isolation and social life.

Activities & Shift

The life of the tourist house can be divided into two phases. From Monday to Friday it's more or less calm, and we do the necessary things around the House in a peaceful rhythm, on Saturday and on Sunday it's more busy as hikers arrive and tourist groups arrive. We alwaysagree with volunteers week by week how to arrange the weekly work shifts and holidays.

Rules

We have separated rooms for volunteers in the House.
Concerning food on weekends generally we cook together, on weekdays you can cook for yourself in a separate kitchen, we do the shopping for you as needed.
Wifi, bathroom, washing machine for laundry and all basic tools are supplied.
