The hostel was a very nice experience; the schedules and tasks were as agreed, we have two well-served meals, the location is great and it's a differentiator when making my choices. Renato and Rose guide the team to whatever is possible and are always willing to help you with everything. I definitely recommend it!

This is my second time here at the hostel, and it will always be my little home to return to when I come to Salvador. The hostel is organized and clean, very spacious, and there are always people from all corners of the world to connect with. The amenities are good, coffee is well served and lunch is provided. We have a volunteers' room.

I really loved this time volunteering at Barra hostel! My first volunteering experience couldn't have been better; the place and the people became a family to me. I'm looking forward to the next reunions. I love you all so much 🫶🏼 thank you very much

This was my second time at the hostel and it’s definitely my little home in Salvador whenever I return. The hostel is great, very cozy. Breakfast is very good (it saved me a ton during Carnival) and Renato's lunches too. The work with social media is easygoing, but it requires commitment. Highly recommend! ✨

My overall experience was quite positive. Regarding the hostel facilities in general, they are comfortable and they provide support such as blankets, towels, etc. The food was also very good. The best part for me were the friends I made at the hostel, both guests and some volunteers. It was also a great experience to practice my English and connect with people from all over the world. The experience wasn't 100% positive because some people from the hostel administration and older volunteers weren't very receptive, and the atmosphere wasn't as light as it could have been.

The hostel has a great setup and location, the breakfast is very good and we also got lunch. I started in the cleaning team and was reassigned a few days later to the media team while a new volunteer hadn't arrived yet. It was my first time in this role, I hope I did well. The work, both media and cleaning, isn't complicated. I made several friends, mainly guests, and I was able to enjoy Salvador. At times, the tone used is more hostile and I believe that communication and relationships can improve by choosing to talk and defuse unnecessary situations during the handover. I appreciate the experience!

It was my second time at the hostel, there were many changes, new management (ex-volunteer) and a completely different environment from my first experience. On my first time I worked in social media and the experience was amazing, I had more freedom for production; this time, when I helped with cleaning, I was more supervised and faced many demands. An environment with a lot of gossip and a hostile climate; any comment you make becomes a huge snowball. I ended my volunteer work early, informing the owners in advance, signaling the points that demotivated me.

During your stay, some situations related to schedules, communication, and alignment of activities were indeed observed and discussed internally by the team.
Our goal is never to create conflicts, but to maintain an organized and respectful environment for everyone — guests, staff, and volunteers. In a hostel, collaboration, responsibility, and good coexistence are essential for the experience to work for everyone.

My volunteering at the hostel exceeded my expectations. From the first day I felt welcomed by a friendly and organized team, in a relaxed and stress-free environment. The facilities are clean and well cared for, with common spaces ideal for connecting with travelers. The tasks and schedules agreed upon are met. I thank Renato, Rosi, and the owners for their support and the trust they convey. I take away great memories and I recommend this place to anyone looking for volunteer work where one feels valued.
