From the start I felt warmly welcomed from Ale, Izzy and the whole volunteer group and already after a few days this felt like a home away from home, with the nicest, kindest people and I am super sad to leave!! Thank you so much to the people from UGH for these past weeks, they were full of fun and meeting the coolest people & travelers ! Of course the work can be exhausting sometimes, but in itself it is absolutely doable and fun and when small problems arise, everybody works together and is heard and I always felt super respected and validated! I'll miss you all a lot, lots of love!!

My experience at the hostel has been amazing! I spent one month at the hostel and I found a special team of volunteers and a great staff. My time here as been great, shifts in the week were always different, these allows for balanced work. Schedules shown on the website are adhered to, during the week you have two days off for every three days worked. I had the possibility to meet a lot of people and make lots of special friends in the hostel team. Thank u so much!

My time at the hostel was truely such a wonderful experience I know it sounds like such a cliché but with the volunteers here it truely was a family! The staff and other volunteers really make it an incredible experience The work is 3 days on 2 days off with the shifts being 5pm-12am, 12pm-5pm, and 9am-4pm Just note that it is a larger hostel with over 100 beds, but it's definitely manageable. I also wouldn't rely solely on the food provided as has been mentioned in other reviews. I really loved my 2 months at the hostel and would absolutely recommend it Thanks for everything!!

I had such a good experience at the hostel. It is a great work environment with very kind people. I felt really welcome and included easily, and everyone was so generous. The vibe in the hostel is good, so you quickly feel at home! Concerning the work it can be very fun and chill, but at times is also very demanding, so keep that in mind. Also the food provided was not enough for all the volunteers. Otherwise I really recommend this volunteering position - you will have a memorable time and learn so much from others:)) Thank you so very much to everyone from the team ❤️😊

I had an amazing experience in the hostel and in Lisbon! I quickly felt welcome in the team and got on well with everyone fast. We also regularly did things together in our free time, which I really appreciated. One point I have to be honest about is that i expected more food for the volunteers and that should be considered depending on the budget you have available. Nevertheless, I can recommend everyone to gain experience in the hostel! Thank you guys for everything <3

Thank you so much UGH! this was my first world packers experience and it was amazing. i would recommend this to anyone, from first time volunteers to regular volunteers. Thank you to Izzy, Ale, Marcus, Kessya and all the volunteers for making this experience a 10/10. The hostel is clean and in a great location. The shifts are straightforward and very easy to get the hang of. I would definitely come again and it is going to be very hard to say goodbye!!! Obrigado! ❤️

Was so nice I did it twice :) This time I did Night Shift (2 nights on, 4 nights off) and was able to study while doing so. Thank you to the UGH team I'll miss everyone dearly and hope to come back in the future 🫶

My experience at the hostel was a truly life changing experience in many ways. I found many great friends and built genuine connections with other volunteers. Most of the task of the night shift are as explained on here. However in my opinion this shift should not be done by just one volunteer. I experienced many intense situations which a volunteer is not trained for. Sadly in these situations I felt a huge lack of support and genuine caring. This lack was also noticeable in the communication which was often based on beneficiary intentions.

I had a great time during my 5 weeks stay, I did the night shift (3 nights of work 6 days off) and it was a great choice for me - way more free time, less hard work. Overall I'd rate my stay highly but mostly due to the amazing people I've met there, the volunteers were like a family. I won't give the experience 5 stars as the hostel in itself is badly organized which often caused problems for the volunteers. Moreover, after midnight there is no place for volunteers to hangout outside the bedroom which caused some conflicts between volunteers and management. But the staff is really nice!

It's a welcome and chill atmosphere with the employees and volunteers. Everybody is friendly and respectful. It's a nice experience for new volunteers. First two or three days can be confusing, but afterwards you get everything. It's a great experience for meeting people and doing party. Thanks
