Olle explained many details about the local culture and told us everything about the city and its customs. You can feel his love for his home and his animals. We had a really nice stay and felt welcome from the beginning. He was kind and had a good sense of humour, and the cats were lovely too! He also showed us around Uppsala, gave us some great experiences during our stay, and helped us with our further travels. I especially appreciated how kindly he reacted when I thought I had accidentally broken something. The working hours were sometimes a little unclear and a few comments were unusual, but we never felt genuinely uncomfortable. Overall, it was a great experience and we would happily come back!

It was a very nice time, the tasks were very appropriate and the atmosphere was very pleasant. The other Volunteers made it a good time. If I would have been alone for the time it would probably have been more boring and lonely on the farm when the host is away for work. The rooms are great (not overly luxurious but more than enough) and the bathroom situation was a little bit interesting. It is all very manageable but could be awkward if you don't get along well. You could always ask the host about things but the working hour and what was part of the work wasn't always very clear.

I had a really good time at the farm. At first I was disappointed about the mess in the house, but I got used to it and tried to made it as cozy as possible. The area is perfect for winter sports like ice skating or skiing. The best part is the own car you get to visit the city. Olov is a nice person who really enjoys sovializing but he only comes to the house at the weekends. The milking cows at Åke's farm were sold out of the blue during my stay which was a little bit shocking for all of us. This volunteer experience will change a lot. Good luck for the future to Olov, Åke and Maria! 💚

Nice experince. The Professor is a gentleman, very educated, respectful and available for teacing. He plays muscic too. The place is cool well connected and the relationship with the nature is great! Skiing was very funny.

Unfortunately this stay was nothing like what I was hoping for. The whole house and all the buildings of the farm are very damaged and trashed. The rooms were nothing like the pictures online - we were honestly shocked! On top of that we had a hard time understanding what Olov wanted us to do since he didn't communicate the working tasks clearly. In general we didn't feel respected or welcome at this place, since we never heard a please or thank you from Olov and he sometimes left for some days without telling us in advance. For me it was a very depressing time and I left earlier than planned

Olov is easily the best host I've stayed with so far !
Upon arriving, I immediately felt welcomed and at home. The working hours and tasks are flexible, unless you're working the shifts with the cows, but even so I was able to choose if I wanted to do that or not. The employees and owners of the farm are also genuinely kind people and patient teachers.
I can particularly recommend this place if you want to immerse yourself in local culture. Olov is always happy to suggests acivites and spots to visit in your free time and also goes out with the volunteers when he visits.

My time in Söderala was great! I met so many incredible people and I learned a lot. I started with trying to cow shift which was great, but afterwards I was also able to do other work like deep cleaning the house and I really liked doing that. Olov is an incredible host who will always propose fun activities to do in the area. We did a lot while I was in Uppsala/Söderala. Like dance parties, music events and a visit to an animal park called Vildriket. I would definetly recommend going if you want to experience life in rural Sweden.

This was my first time as a volunteer and I was very scared of how it could result, but this was a really nice experience. I got the chance to connect with more volunteers and they made it even better. I was first in Uppsala and we worked on the cleaning then went to the farm. Everyone was so kind and nice to me, working with Jasper, Anders, Ake, María and Wilda was great! Spending the time with Ollé (Olov) was great too. He is always looking for activities to enjoy and places to visit and make you have beautiful days and nights. I really hope I can go back and see these people again! 🥹🥰🤗

It was a wonderful experience at the farm! We learnt many things about gardening and the farm life, the place was really cool, away from the city, so It was a great occasion to get in contact with nature. During our free time we were able to explore the areas near the house, da couple of trekkings and also swim in the lake! The only thing that you need to keep in mind is that the house is not really tidy and that it gets dirty quite easily with many people but with some good will you will get used to it and you will surely enjoy your days at the farm.
