Program Details

Ananaw was one of Mindo’s best personalized hostels for years, until the pandemic paused us. Now we’re coming back with a new face and want Worldpackers to join us. Help with gardening, carpentry and cleaning, and learn birds and nature photography with a local guide. A 100% positive attitude and eagerness to learn are a must. Only two rooms ready, the rest under renovation. Stays of 2 weeks to 3 months.

Activities & Shift

Our activities are gardening, carpentry and general cleaning, all coordinated with the volunteers so we work as a team.

Ananaw has experience with volunteers: we have hosted students from Instituto Yavirac, with enriching exchanges of work and knowledge. For those who are interested, we go on field trips to learn about the local flora and fauna with a licensed local guide. As background, I co-founded the association Biodiversidad Ecuador, which brings together biologists, tourism guides, carpenters and agronomists who care for the environment.

Rules

No alcohol, smoking or drugs at the hostel. No pets. No visitors without the owner’s permission. Please be respectful and discreet in shared areas. Save water and electricity. Keep your room and common areas clean. Work schedule is agreed on your first day; tell us in advance if you’re sick or need to change days. Use tools and safety gear only as instructed. Respect wildlife and the forest: do not feed or disturb the animals.
