My stay was nice! Work & hours as described, food is amazing, & fresh from garden. Dogs well cared for. Ruben is a legend, Javi is lovely but can be unclear in his expectations/communication which can lead to tension (amongst other staff, volunteers and himself). Experience tainted by Javi's girlfriend's behaviour. From not allowing us food at times, to switching hot water off from volunteer shower, a miserable presence who created a low energy environment. Would recommend for personal fulfillment (lovely garden, serving food to locals) but you need to see past chaotic & awkward social aspect.

We learned a lot about sustainability in the garden and kitchen. The food we received was very good and you can also improve your kitchen skills with Javi if you like. Serving food to people was very nice and you can feel that you have an inpact.

Our stay at the project was a really cool experience. We worked outdoors from 8 a.m -1 p.m and could relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings in the afternoon. Breakfast and lunch was included and believe me: it was very tasty! On thursdays we headed to antigua to give out soups- it's a wonderful experience. Im grateful for the time at Benji's and hope to come back one day:-)

I had a great time at the project! I connected with nature and could help in the garden / at the field. On thursdays we gave out soups in antigua, that was a nice experience as well! The working time is from 8 in the morning till 1 p.m. Benji prepares breakfast and lunch - it's delicious!! I ate the best cannelonis ever :)) If you wanna work outdoors, learn more about gardening and escape the city life this is a great opportunity. Cute cats and dogs included:D

The property is beautiful, however, felt uncomfortable from the beginning. There is a clear disrespect towards locals, the host would judge and criticize them in english, in front of them. Chef was constantly complaining about other volunteers, passive aggressive and unorganized. I am very surprised there are such high ratings with others, he talked down on many of them. Avoid the chaos. There are many beautiful animals on the property, however only some are favoured and most are well underfed. The host gave us blood, pee, and mold stained beds… avoid at all cost. I have photos for proof!

My days between the project were very beautiful,, Thanks to Chef Alex for opening the doors to his house and making me feel as if I were in my own, they were a few quiet days in the company of his dogs who are incredible, I will miss them. Thanks for everything, Alex.

El proyeto fue mi primer voluntariado y no existe otra mejor manera para empezar. Javi y Ruben son muy atentos y buscan el bienestar el proyeto voluntarios. El lugar es hermoso con una vista espectacular al proyeto agua, fuego y Acatenango. Tuvimos la oportunidad de compartir nuestras experiencias culinarias y aprender de Javi y su huerta. Es una experiencia que recomiendo se den la oportunidad de vivir.

Mi experiencia en el proyeto fue increíble, la vista es hermosa desde la casa y desde la huerta. Javier sabe un montón de recetas y tiene muchas experiencias para compartir, la tranquilidad del lugar y la conexión con la naturaleza es lo más recomendado. Te sientes parte de una comunidad que cultiva y cosecha sus propios alimentos. Los días de preparar y repartir "Sopa gratis" en las comunidades aledañas es una labor muy linda y es súper recomendada para que todos puedan ayudar y compartir con la población local.
