The Experience

You will help me with my day-to-day gardening activities, growing plants and flowers which I sell at a farmer's market. Volunteers should be ready to perform lots of garden work with their hands and simple tools (rakes, pick-mattock, clippers, trowels, shovels, etc.). You will get dirty, but learning what it takes for different types of plants to thrive is rewarding. Once a week I load up my pickup truck with plants, etc. that I take to market.

I absolutely LOVED my time at this experience! The work was hard (it's not just watering plants, it's proper garden/yard work), but it's rewarding and Reina and Sandy are such amazing hosts - they made it feel like a home away from home. The only thing was that they're in a rural area, so it can be a bit difficult to get around. I ended up renting a car and the hosts were super flexible and accommodating with this (as far as my work hours go), but if you work hard / a little bit extra, they'll also drive you to some places around the area :) mahalo!

My time volunteering at Reina and Sandy's flower yard was an absolute dream. Surrounded by vibrant blooms and beaches, I felt like I was living in a postcard. The work was hard but rewarding and fulfilling, and the hosts were incredibly welcoming. Plus, I got to explore the beautiful island and meet other amazing volunteers. The only disadvantage around here is that the public transportation is really bad and it's hard to rent a car if you're under 25. The hosts can drive you wherever you want, if you're working more hours.. but that was a little bit tough for me🧡 Thank you!!🦋🌻

Reina has become my new friend. She provided me with everything I needed and has made me feel like a new member of her family. I'm so glad I got to be her volunteer. A wonderful experience.
