I will remember this experience for a long time. Everyone was very kind and friendly and welcomed me with open arms. Ita and Todd are wonderful people who looked after us as if we were their own throughout our stay. The food was amazing every time. I really enjoyed my time at the castle and hope to have the chance to return. Thank you so much for this experience.

Warning for all worldpackers: you won't want to leave!! Can't imagine a volunteering experience better than this - work was fun, varied and manageable, the house and bedrooms are luxury and the company is incredible. Ita and Todd are responsible hosts and also incredibly caring, warm and generous. I loved the delicious food and conversation during meals, exploring around Portugal on weekend trips with the accessible buses, petting the cute dogs and getting to know other amazing volunteers. I even got to be a part of filming a horror film which I will never forget! Will miss it immensely!

Todd and Ita are two of the most kind and genuine people I have ever met. They put so much effort into creating and protecting an environment that is welcoming to all and it is immediately evident when you show up. They are easy to talk to and have so many interesting stories to tell, and they have a genuine interest in connecting with the volunteers. Working hours were always respected and tasks were never too difficult. The food is always delicious and evenings can be spent hanging around the beautiful castle grounds, down in the town, or at the river. It truly was an amazing experience.

The only negative thing about my stay at the farm was that I stayed for ONLY three weeks. The tasks are never too strenuous and they vary so I never got bored. Ita and Todd are wonderful people, they treat all the volunteers like friends or family. Our group dinners were always my favourite part of the day. the farm itself is a magical place! It's a beautiful and eccentric building surrounded by big gardens and orchards. Staying there was a unique experience that I will cherish forever. Thank you Ita and Todd <3

The farm is an amazing experience to live. Ita and Todd make you feel at home from the very first moment. It is a place to learn different abilities, very well located in Portugal and have a lot of fun and freedom in and around the Castle. Would recommend it without a doubt and hope to be back one day

The farm is truly an incredible place. Ita and Todd made me feel at home from the very first moment, they are so attentive and communicative. As for the tasks, I learned so much about gardening, furniture restoration, and many other things. The working hours are always respected, and the instructions are very clear. The food is absolutely amazing, Ita should be a chef hahaha I'm going to miss them so much, and also D.O.G, Pixie, Black Dog, and Mia (the best dogs ever). I really hope to come back soon because this place truly feels like a home away from home 🧡

I feel so lucky that this was my first experience at volunteering! Ita and Todd are incredibly lovely and they have created such a beautiful space. I got to try a huge range of things from gardening to painting as well as all the amazing food (and conversation!) at dinner time. There was always something to do, from swimming in the river to taking weekend trips into cities such as Lisbon, Porto and Coimbra. I adored the time I got to spend in such a beautiful part of the world as well as all the brilliant people I got to meet. I can't wait to see what happens next at the castle.

My time at the castle was the absolute best. Ita and Todd are the loveliest, warmest and funniest people, making you feel at home immediately. I met so many amazing volunteers here, and it felt like we were all one big family. I enjoyed the work, with Ita and Todd helping to show us how to do everything, and designating us to our preferred tasks where possible. The village is gorgeous, with local bars, live music, waterfalls, rivers, and an amazing pastry shop. The food is delicious, from Ita's homemade recipes to endless cookie and snack supplies! I could not recommend this place enough!

I had such an amazing time at the castle!! Everyone around is super friendly, Ita and Todd are the best hosts ever. I got to try new skills in remodeling and the work was so fun and rewarding. I'll be dreaming about Ita's food (specifically green curry and pizza) for a long time!! The village is really nice with a couple of cafes and a park, and the nature surrounding the place is beautiful. In my days off I was able to visit Porto and Coimbra as the buses are accessible. Thank you Ita and Todd!!!!!
