Urbany Hostel is located in Notting Hill (zone 1). Not only are you in walking distance to see the beautiful Portobello Market (where the coloured houses are) but we are only a 10 minute walk from Kensington Gardens and Hyde Park. We have plenty of bus stops into the city as well as the 3 major tube lines within a 5 minute walk. Lots of supermarkets, fast foods and shops located near us also! You cannot beat our area. Our beautiful townhouse hostel was built in the 1800s, it is 4 stories/floors, with a large kitchen, outdoor terrace, lounge room and dining room. Our hostel is a capacity of 112 beds, open to youth travellers all over the world. We have a work hard, play hard mentality; for those who enjoy a party, but also someone who takes pride and genuine care in the tasks assigned - then we are looking for you!
Everyone at Urbany is welcoming, easy going and is like a family. We are are a hostel for backpackers/travellers, run by backpackers/travellers. We are a live in team of 15. As a sociable group; we like to interact and hang out with not only each other and with the guests as well. We are a community, providing a safe and comfortable space. We are looking for volunteers who will help us continue to be one of the best hostels in London.

Urbany is the best hostel in the entire UK. It is a place where you really feel home away from home. Since the first second I got there, everyone from the team made sure to give me a cozy environment, it is insanely clean, all the volunteers match so well, even when they are from different parts of the world. That’s due to Leah’s ability to choose the right staff, she does a spectacular work in that place. I will never forget the incredible days I had there. My heart is blown away. I recommend it more than anything!!

I wouldn’t trade my experience at Urbany for anything! This hostel has truly become my second home, and all the people I’ve met along the way will forever hold a special place in my heart.
The shifts are very reasonable and the work hours are respected. The facilities are fantastic, the location is unbeatable, and all the social events are super fun. Special thanks to Leah for being the best manager— and to the team for being the best in general.
I highly recommend Urbany to anyone who’s interested in applying!

Volunteering at Urbany is a good way to travel around London since it is very well located. Since it’s a social hostel, I think it is a good way to meet people from all over the world. I think that volunteering at this hostel is not for everyone, it can be very challenging since they really have a mentality of « work hard, play hard ». They have very high standards for cleaning and housekeeping since it is a highly-rated hostel. I found it harder to have a good sleep since it is a very social hostel, people are coming in and out of the room and leaving the light on most of the night.
