I had a great time here! There are three things that really stood out: 1. The location - right in the centre of the hostel close to a lot of nice bars, shops and restaurant. The area is really lively and you're sure to enjoy yourself there. 2. The lunches - there is a bar/restaurant under the hostel and lunch is included for volunteers. The chefs really know how to cook and I ate a lot of delicious meals. 3. The staff - the members of the hostel team are a joy to work with; always friendly, helpful and concerned about how the volunteers are doing. Thanks for the experience!

Loved, loved, loved my time at the surf the surf the surf camp d'Agua! The guys that founded the the surf the surf the surf camp and run it are so committed to what they do and clearly enjoy sharing their passion with others. This energy ensures that volunteers are motivated and happy doing their job too...I know I was at least. Working on the beach at the surf school was the best 'job' I have ever had and would return to it in a heartbeat. I met loads of amazing people while volunteering and really felt like I was part of a family. Surfing as much as I wanted was awesome too! I can't recommend this place highly enough...I'll be back soon!

I absolutely loved being a volunteer at the hostel. The work was simple and fun, I felt welcome and trusted, and my colleagues (both fixed and voluntary) were amazing. I stayed in the hostel at Rossio station and it had a relaxed but fun vibe. I miss it already!

Work experience

I have a wide range of work experience. While studying I had various part-time jobs to help pay for university, including: market research; working in a bakery; delivering post; cleaning; dishwashing; catering.

For the past six years I have been working as an English teacher in a secondary school.

Travel experience

Ever since I can remember I have loved travelling and learning about different cultures and countries. With my family I would go camping in France every year and when I was old enough and had enough money I started visiting new places. Outside of Europe I have been to Morocco, India, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Panama, the USA and Canada. I have also seen quite a bit of Europe, with Portugal being my absolute favourite country. It was actually love at first sight and since 2015 (my first visit - to Lisbon) I have been back a number of times, made portuguese friends and learned the language!
