House Sitting and Language Exchange in the Swiss Alpsđď¸
The experience
The volounteer will help us with cleaning after every check-out, welcoming guests and sometimes cooking. We offer board, stay and Italian lessons if needed. Program Details
We are Ettore and Rossella. We run the chalet by ourserlves and we have also other jobs.
We are an easygoing, friendly, and very open-minded couple. We have traveled widely and used to sharing spaces with others, and value mutual respect and tolerance.
The accommodation is in a typical 18th-century Ticino chalet located in the heart of the Swiss Alps at 1,400 meters above sea level. Just 300 meters from the Ritom funicular, 10 meters from the bus stop, and 7 minutes from the Quinto highway exit, the chalet is an excellent base for backpackers, globetrotters, digital nomads, mountaineers, skiers, snowboarders, very open-minded travelers and nature lovers.
The chalet is cozy, vintage, and a bit rustic â so please donât expect 5-star accommodation (and if you decide to stay, please donât complain about that đ).
Because itâs a historic building, the ceilings are only 185â195 cm high and there are exposed beams, so it may feel uncomfortable for people taller than 180 cm.
Here, you can enjoy fresh mountain air, peace, breathtaking landscapes, and scenic nature trails. The area is ideal year-round: long hikes, pristine forests, mountain biking, or skiing and snowboarding at the nearby Airolo, CarĂŹ, Prato Leventina, and Andermatt Sedrun slopes.
Activities & Shift
The volounteer will help us with cleaning, welcoming guests and sometimes cooking.
We offer bed (The volounteer will share our bedroom with us, so there is no privacy at all! :) If you need privacy and you are not used to share bed and spaces this is not the right place for you!), board, and Italian lessons if needed. Help with cleaning and cooking is appreciated, as well as language lessons or conversation in Spanish, English, Russian, Albanian, or any other language you may speak :)
We are always interested in meeting new people and exchanging experiences, especially through language exchange. We are currently studying Russian and Albanian and improving Spanish and French.
The kitchen is shared with us and with the guests of the house (where our vacation rental business also operates). Volunteers can also use our living room to work, read, relax, or enjoy a coffee.
Rules
⢠This experience is ideal for positive, informal, multicultural and very open-minded travelers who are used to hostel-style living, tents, shared spaces, and sharing a bedroom.
⢠IMPORTANT: The volounteer shares our bedroom with us, so little space and no privacy at all :)
⢠There are 2 bathrooms, one with a shower.
⢠If youâre seeking privacy, luxury, or are not comfortable sharing spaces, this is not the right fit.
⢠We are happy to share experiences with volunteers â outings with friends, dinners out, skiing, walks, small trips, and excursions in the area.
⢠We are always available to give tips about places to visit and things to do nearby.
