Kicked out with 48 hour notice with no discussion about 'issues'. Prepared to be micromanaged by host's mother (who runs cleaning). The minute you do anything she checks and complains via text message to the host. If you don't speak Portuguese, she ignores you. V passive aggressive! With no proof, I was labelled dirty& disrespectful, despite having zero issues with volunteers/guests. Host takes his mother's words blindly so if she doesn't like you for whatever reason, good luck lol You're immediately sanctioned harshly, no discussion or collaboration. As volunteers, ur walking on eggshells..

We value respect, good coexistence, and positive energy. It’s a pity that, due to comments like Raissa’s, many people feel insecure and close their eyes to everything good that is said about us. We are not perfect, but we are decent people, and we offer above all, hospitality and well-being, for those who understand the purpose of our home, which is shared from the heart. Our hostel is our home, shared by our volunteers and our guests; we take care of it. Peace and light!

My experience at the house was very special and enriching. ❤️ I had the opportunity to meet amazing people, share moments, learn things and experience a very beautiful cultural exchange. The coexistence, the friendship and the affection I received made this experience even more meaningful. I am very grateful for the welcome, for the trust and for everything I lived during these days. It was an experience I will carry with me with great affection and that left fond memories in my heart.

Volunteering at Nóis de Casa was an incredible experience! The tasks and schedules were always well coordinated and respected. A light routine, I could balance everything. The hostel is well located, with easy access to buses, the subway, supermarkets, and a bakery almost next door – which has a really good cheese bread! The volunteers' room is spacious and the bed is comfortable. Dona Helena's coffee is great and Ed also grills, hehe :). I am immensely grateful to Ed and Dona Helena for all the kindness, the conversations and exchanges we had during this time. I would recommend 100% and would definitely come back! Gratitude for everything!

My experience at Hostel Nós a casa was very good!. I was warmly welcomed and received by everyone. The host was receptive and respected the agreed times and tasks. The tasks were fairly light and the routine was very pleasant.

I highly recommend the hostel for accommodation, a charming, pleasant, and well-organized place, and it is well located in a quiet residential neighborhood near downtown BH. And I would definitely come back again as a volunteer or guest. Gratitude!

It was an incredible experience! The host and her son welcomed me in a super warm way, making me feel at home from the very first moment. The house is large, comfortable, and very well located. They were incredibly hospitable, attentive, and always willing to help with whatever I needed. We talked a lot and I learned a lot from them. Definitely one of the best experiences I've had, and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone thinking of going.

The experience at the house was very constructive and full of lessons. Although far from the center, there are several bus options with stops nearby. I worked a lot on my patience, because Dona Helena, the person responsible for the house, is very demanding with her recommendations and with the cleanliness. At some moments, the first topic of the morning was often about who had left the kitchen dirty or who would check out. This topic ended up being a priority even before "good morning". It is worth noting that it is not a hostel, but a guest house.
Overall, it was a challenging experience!

We are really looking for volunteers to help with cleaning and tidying the rooms and the house, and I believe that the level of expectation for the tasks is proportional to the space we offer to volunteers, the minimum workload of 15 hours per week, and that it often doesn't even reach 3 hours per day. Just because it's volunteer work doesn't mean the tasks have to be performed without any requirements; we just want them to be done well, I don't see it as a big deal.

On my second time volunteering I was very well received by the host and by the volunteers; the house is a family environment that has everything we need, the daily cleaning tasks proposed are not heavy and are very simple, the landlady Helena, one of the hosts, every day does the cleaning quality inspection and provides support to the volunteers such as washing clothes and other things you may need. Edi, the second host, helped me a lot; whenever I needed to swap my days off he would find a way and change them for me, and he also always grills for everyone. I recommend Nós de Casa

Useful tips: don't kick the crochet mats made with a lot of care (especially the kitchen ones) when you finish washing the bathroom shower cubicle, run your hand along the glass so there is no soap residue. Every now and then there's a good barbecue. The mango falls into the yard every day Good luck!

I had a good experience at casa di Casa, Edi and Dona Helena welcomed me very well! The house is large and comfortable, it has a very good structure, and follows a hostel vibe since it does not have shared rooms. The position is only for cleaning, the shift times are very calm, however the position requires a lot of attention from the volunteer, because cleaning and organization standards are strict. I recommend the experience!

Thank you very much, Ruan! The house will always be open whenever you want to come back, it was a pleasure! Regarding the cleaning standard, we just want it to be done well within the small volunteering time necessary. For that reason we are trying to offer more volunteering slots so it won't become a heavy work routine. See you next time!! Enjoy your journey and may it be increasingly beautiful and successful, full of good things that life still has to offer you! Big hug.
