Program Details
This program is part of the Selva Viva Foundation project's initiative, focused on supporting Indigenous youths who study technical, university, or training programs, and who face economic constraints and various structural barriers. Our goal is for these youths to complete their education and later return to their communities to share the knowledge acquired and lead initiatives aimed at sustainable development and environmental conservation.
In this context, volunteers play an important role by providing support in teaching the English language through classes and spaces for conversational practice. Additionally, by living in the student residence, they participate in community life and in the shared responsibilities of the home, such as cooking and cleaning common areas, promoting a respectful, collaborative and harmonious environment.
Activities & Shift
-English classes and guided conversation practice with the students.
-Participation in house community tasks: food preparation by shifts, dishwashing, and cleaning of common areas (shared activity with students and project team).
-Approximate schedule: 4 to 5 hours per day, 5 days a week.
-Every Sunday at 8:00 a.m. a meeting is held to organize and assign the weekly kitchen and cleaning shifts.
-The shifts are distributed equitably and are mandatory for all residents.
Rules
• The volunteer must respect the house rules of the student residence and maintain a responsible and respectful attitude.
• The house operates as a community home, not as a hotel. Therefore, the volunteer will participate mandatorily in the kitchen shifts, dishwashing, and cleaning of common areas, together with the students and project team.
• The volunteer must comply with the schedules and activities assigned, especially the English classes and practices.
• Every Sunday at 8:00 p.m. a meeting will be held to organize the shifts and activities for the week. Attendance is mandatory.
• The manager of the student residence will be the person responsible for guiding the volunteer, providing support during their stay, and monitoring the fulfillment of the activities.
• The project commits to providing an initial orientation and ensuring a safe, clean and respectful environment for living together.
