The experience was wonderful! Outside of the hussle of downtown hongkong there a small village where Maria and her family give their volunteers the wonderful opportunity to learn about farming and live in nature. I had a whole apartment to myself and really enjoyed the food Maria cooks (often from ingredients straight from the farm) and the conversations. The hosts are travelers as well, so they understand the needs of travelers very well. work can be a little hard, especially during summer temperatures, but i'm so grateful i was able to experience this! Very nice and warm family. In the mornings after breakfast, about 2-3 hours were spent working in the field, and then again in the afternoons the remaining 2-3 hours. There was a small house for us to sleep in.
