This experience was amazing, i had a lot of fun and i really felt like a part of the family. I learned a lot about coffee and all the process of making but also a lot about agroforestry in general. We baked a lot, prepared the market, visited other farms… I was the only volunteer for two weeks but I felt at home and not lonely at all. Nina and her family are all adorable. I would love to come back !! Great memories, really.

Such a grounding experience. Everyone was so warm and made us feel so included from the second we arrived. Every person in the family impacted me in a different way, and by the end it really felt like we were leaving family. My boyfriend and I both felt so appreciated and cared for the entire time. We’ll have to come back. Saudades Fazenda Monte Cristo!! Até a próxima! 🌴💛 — Annaliz & Elie

First of all is the environment located in a very beautiful and underrated area. We are very thankful to have experienced this through their farm. Second of all are Nina and Guilherme super including and always willing to help! Also the working part was great with flexible hours and a great variety of the sort of work we had to do. The only thing to keep in mind is that if you go in the winter , to bring warm clothes with you since the house is not heated. In general we would very much recommend this volunteer experience to others! :)

Fazenda of Monte Cristo was truly paradise on earth! The photos can even depict the true beauty of this place. I enjoyed the two weeks that I spent collecting coffee and learning about the production process. My tasks also included cleaning, painting and photography. The host Nina was very flexible with hours and providing tasks that I was interested in. One advice is to bring a lot of mosquito repellent and sunscreen since a lot of time is spent outdoors. The family were very welcoming and made sure I was comfortable and also helped me improve my Portuguese. I definitely recommend :)

I really loved to stay in this beatiful place. The host is very very friendly and creates an athmosphere similar to a family. It's a great opportunity for someone that wants to enjoy natural landscapes, farm life and local culture. I would also underline that the host is actively putting effort to make the volunteers enjoy the stay and make a great experience, respecting the times and the agreements while sustaining both-sides valuable communication. Recommendissimo!

I had an amazing 3 weeks at the farm! Nina & Guilherme really made me feel included! Their family is very warm and welcoming. I got to improve my Portuguese, eat delicious food, and learn A LOT about agroforestry and bio construction! The place is beautiful, like paradise! With a waterfall, some spots to swim, view points and places to go for a hike! I'm very glad I found this beautiful place and I will be back for sure!! 🫶🏼 thank you so much!

Volunteering at the farm was an incredibly rewarding experience. Immediately upon arrival, I was embraced wholeheartedly as one of the family members. The cheerfulness and respect shown by the hosts set the tone for an enriching journey. It was a mix of joy and education, as I learned invaluable lessons about sustainable agriculture, plant cultivation, and eco-friendly living. Nestled far from the bustle of tourism, the fazenda boasts a picturesque landscape—majestic mountains, tranquil waterfalls, and abundant green vegetation. And I never felt isolated due to hosts' English fluency 😇

I had a very rich experience learning about coffee harvesting, sustainability, and composting.
I connected deeply with nature and with the hosts, who were extremely welcoming and generous. Nina was loving in sharing with me her knowledge of the local cuisine!

I had the privilege of participating in the monthly fair, which made the experience even more special.
The family was very welcoming and concerned about my well-being❣️
I am very grateful for everything I learned and lived during this volunteering.
I will certainly return❣️🥰

Volunteering at the site is so wonderful that I came back to stay a little longer. The first time I was able to learn a lot about cultivation and processing of products harvested in agroforestry. On the second visit, I was able to harvest coffee and learn the sorting process, in addition to amazing lessons on medicinal herbs and agroforestry.
Nina and Gui are amazing people and have a place in my heart. Their project is beautiful and enriching.
