The host family was spectacular-Ruth and Muchemwa were incredibly welcoming and made my stay memorable. I hesitated to write this because the family was grieving during my visit, and I have great sympathy for their situation. However, future volunteers should know the coordinator was not prepared, did not know the condition of the Women's Empowerment Center, and moved midway through my placement. I ultimately left a few days after arriving and still paid $470. While the host family was wonderful, the volunteer experience was disappointing and disheartening. I know they can improve.
