You’ll support our team through a combination of housekeeping, morning opening shifts and overnight presence. You’ll meet travellers from around the world while becoming part of our small international hostel community.

Activities & Shift

You’ll help around 25 hours per week according to a weekly schedule. Your shifts will include a combination of:

• Housekeeping – cleaning dorms, bathrooms and shared areas, making beds and keeping the hostel tidy.

• Morning opening – preparing the common areas and making sure the hostel is clean, organised and ready for the day.

• Overnight shifts – staying at the hostel and being available if guests need assistance. Nights are generally quiet, so you may sleep, but you must remain on-site, reachable and ready to help when necessary.

The exact mix of shifts may vary each week. We’re looking for someone responsible, punctual, proactive and comfortable working independently. A friendly attitude and good communication are essential.

Rules

1. Be punctual and complete all agreed shifts and assigned duties.

2. During overnight shifts, remain on-site and reachable. You may sleep when everything is quiet, but you must respond promptly if a guest needs assistance.

3. Guest safety and comfort come first. Always be welcoming, respectful and helpful, and contact a staff member if you cannot resolve a situation yourself.

4. Complete all housekeeping and opening tasks carefully and to the agreed standard.

5. Respect the shared accommodation, quiet hours, personal belongings and privacy of guests, staff and fellow volunteers.

6. Unregistered visitors are not allowed in the volunteer accommodation or staff-only areas.

7. Bar discounts are for your personal use only and may not be used to buy drinks for others.

8. If you cannot attend a shift, inform us as early as possible so that alternative coverage can be arranged.

9. Do not consume alcohol or drugs before or during a shift. You must always be fit and able to perform your responsibilities.

10. Follow Dutch law and all hostel policies, including our safety, security and privacy procedures.
