Program Details

We focus on restoring and building using natural and recycled materials whenever possible, while learning practical DIY and eco-building techniques along the way. The property is powered by solar panels, and we’re constantly experimenting with new ideas to make the space more beautiful, functional, and environmentally conscious.

The atmosphere here is very community-oriented and flexible. There are always many different projects happening, and volunteers are encouraged to choose the type of work they enjoy most. Ideally, you’ll be able to take ownership of a project and see it through from beginning to end, leaving your personal touch on the hostel.

Outside of work, life here is all about enjoying the beach and sharing experiences together. We regularly organize social activities like bonfires, craft nights, movie nights, games, sunset drinks, trips to the rodeo, local bars, and spontaneous adventures around town. The surf here is also perfect for beginner and intermediate level.

There are 3 friendly dogs living on the property, so animal lovers are very welcome.

We offer two homemade meals per day for a small contribution of around $5–8 USD daily. Cooking is a big part of the experience here, expect fresh homemade Italian food, shared dinners, and family-style meals together. Of course, you’re also welcome to cook for yourself or skip meals whenever you prefer.

Activities & Shift

Volunteer shifts are usually around 4 hours per day, typically from 8am to 12pm, with afternoons and weekends free.

Activities mainly include:

- Cleaning and restoring the land and structures
- Painting and decorating
- Building with recycled and natural materials
- Gardening and landscaping
- DIY and creative projects
- Organizing and improving common areas
- General hostel improvements

The work is very hands-on but flexible. Since there are always many different things happening around the property, volunteers often get to choose projects based on their interests and skills. We especially love when someone takes initiative and helps bring a project from idea to completion.

No professional experience is required. What matters most is being motivated, open-minded, creative, and willing to contribute to the community and the project.
