Program Details
You'll stay on our property surrounded by mountains and nature in the Midi-Pyrenees.
We're doing all the work ourselves and our volunteers help make it happen! We're trying to get our social media presence off the ground and a website up and running, plus we need some branding for the future business. We would love some help with this alongside the other tasks round the place!
Other tasks would include caring for the animals (dogs / cats / rabbits / birds / goats), helping with cooking and housework, veggie garden care & harvesting, playing with our girls (6 and 3 years old) and other bits and bobs around the place!
In terms of accommodation, we have recently built a ‘volunteer pod’ in one of the barns - a little wooden den with mattress, power and light. We’ll put a little heater in when it gets cold. A kind of ‘glamping’ experience!
campervans also welcome. You’ll have access to our downstairs toilet and a hot outdoor shower.
Breakfast is provided in the form of groceries in our outdoor sheltered kitchen, whilst lunch and dinners are shared together on workdays. Our main chill out area is also outside - obviously with the weather changing it will be getting cold so for this position to be right for you you will need to be happy being outside even when it’s chilly! We’ve put a wood burner and sofa in the barn so there is somewhere sheltered to hang out in bad weather.
We are fairly remote here, but a 5 minute drive / 30 minute walk to the local village (bar / shop) and a 15 drive to a bigger town (Aínsa - has everything you might need). There is lots of hiking / biking/ climbing in the area.
We are on a British TV show called Help! We Bought A Village (Channel 4, Series 5) if you want to get a sense of what we're about!
Activities & Shift
We’re looking for hands on volunteers who are willing to get involved in all kinds of tasks to help us make progress, as explained in the previous section!
We ask for 5 days where you can help us with the project for around 5 hours each day, leaving you 2 days a week to enjoy the surroundings. We’ll include you in everything we can, to help you get to know the area and what life is like here. If you like nature and the outdoors this is the perfect place for you, and if you are a remote worker you will have plenty of time and space to work in this tranquil environment (well, it’s tranquil unless the kids are around!!)
Rules
We ask for open and honest communication with each other - it makes for a much better relationship!
We all treat each other and the property with respect, keeping things clean and tidy
No swearing around the kids
No drugs
