We had a great experience staying with Paula as a couple.
Communication was clear and easy from the start, and we felt welcome right away.
The location is perfect, close to the beach and the centre of Byron Bay, while still calm and peaceful.
Tasks were well explained, fair, and well-organised. The accommodation was as described, comfortable and private. Paula and her family are kind, respectful and welcoming hosts who give volunteers space and independence, creating a warm and positive environment.

This experience was a nice way to explore Byron Bay! Paula made sure we had all the things we needed to live comfortably. She is very particular how she likes things done though, so while the work is not really difficult, you are expected to move quite quickly and work "as efficiently as possible" for the entirety of your hours. It's a beautiful location right in town and when you're not working, you have lots of privacy and autonomy to enjoy town.

I would just like to clarify that the agreed exchange was 2.5 hours of work per day, and I did expect you to work the full 2.5 hours efficiently, as you agreed to as part of the exchange. It’s not a lot of time to get everything done, so I do expect helpers to stay focused and make good use of those hours, not simply cruise along or take their time.

Paula and Paul were really great persons I really appreciated my Time there and learned a lot about Gardening :) We worked the recommanded hours and it was well organised. We also had our own place with bathroom and kitchen for intimacy! Also really close to town center Witch was amazing. Thank you :)

I had a fantastic time in Byron and can highly recommend this volunteer job. I was mainly responsible for the garden and really enjoyed the work. Being outdoors is perfect for me, and while a bit of physical fitness is helpful, the tasks are absolutely doable. Paula also pays attention to what she can reasonably expect from each person, which makes the work feel very fair. The accomodation has everything you need, especially a well-equipped kitchen. The best part is the location, you live extremely close to town and the beach, and everything is within walking distance. I’d come back anytime!

They always respected the agreed working hours, and the place where I rested was very comfortable. Paula helped me a lot during my first days in Byron Bay. The place is nice and private, while being really close to the beach and city center. Paula was comprehensive when I needed to change my dates and reduce my stay. Hours of work are 17 instead of 15 but it's clear and we'll organized once you get there. Thank you!

Thank you for your feedback. To clarify for future applicants: the work commitment here is 15 hours per week (6 days, 2.5 hours per day, with the 7th day off). Camela had to shorten her stay for personal reasons, which created extra challenges for me and required additional time to find a replacement. As a result, she worked on what would have been her last day off, totaling 17 hours, which I truly appreciated. In the end, the change caused inconvenience for both of us.
