Program Details
This program is for backpackers who came to Southeast Asia for “a little adventure” and somehow ended up living their best chaotic island life instead.
At Lay Day Gili T, you won’t be stuck behind a desk folding towels in silence. This is a social, fast-paced experience built around meeting people, creating unforgettable nights, and becoming part of one of the wildest hostel atmospheres on the island.
Your days might include beach hangs, snorkelling trips, sunset sessions, hostel games, pool parties, pub crawls, and making sure guests are having the kind of trip they’ll never stop talking about. Every week is different, every night has a story, and no two shifts are ever the same.
This program is perfect for outgoing travelers who love social energy, nightlife, meeting new people, and saying “yes” to spontaneous adventures. If your idea of a good time is making new friends from around the world and helping create amazing experiences for other travelers — you’ll fit right in here.
Not gonna lie: it gets chaotic sometimes. But that’s the fun part.
Activities & Shift
Guest Reps work 5 shifts per week, each around 5 hours long, with a mix of daytime and evening shifts depending on what chaos is happening that week. Flexibility is important because hostel life doesn’t exactly run on corporate office hours.
Day shifts are all about vibes. You’ll hang out with guests, get people involved in activities, promote upcoming events, and help turn random backpackers into instant friend groups. Some days this means joining snorkelling trips, sunset sessions, beach hangs, or convincing guests that “one quiet night” is a terrible idea.
Night shifts are where things level up. You’ll help host pub crawls, pool parties, social events, drinking games, and whatever madness is planned for the evening. Your job is to bring energy, make people feel included, keep the atmosphere social, and help create the kind of nights guests talk about long after they leave the island.
Basically: if you’re good with people, love social environments, and can survive on good vibes and island energy, you’ll fit right in.
Rules
1. Social energy is mandatory. If you wanted peace and quiet, wrong island.
2. Guests are here to make friends — help make it happen.
3. Good vibes only. Leave ego, drama, and bad attitudes at the harbour.
4. Be the reason the night gets better, not more complicated.
5. Have fun, but still be functional enough to survive your next shift.
6. Respect the hostel, the island, the team, and the neighbours.
7. If someone looks left out, bring them into the chaos.
8. Create unforgettable memories, not problems for management.
9. Don’t accidentally extend your stay by 3 months. (It happens.)
