I enjoyed my experience at the hostel, Jose Ignacio ( the owner) and Alfonso the other staff member were attentive and always supportive, explained me everything I needed it to know for the tasks to perform. The hours were respected as well as the days off, the place itself is very modern and well kept; you have privacy and also can engage with other guests if you wanna have a chat. The place is quite and well located, within the city center of Vitoria from where you have a bunch of bars, parks, and supermarkets nearby. I would recommend it to explore Pais Vasco.

Jose Ignacio and the team were welcoming and helpful! The housekeeping and reception work was fair and well organized with a schedule. The hostel was fairly quiet and relaxing. It was not too social as some hostels are but made for a good chance for some R&R.

In short, complete CHAOS! The first day, the staff got me locked out of my room(had to wait 3h until someone woke up and let me in).In 3 days, they gave me 4 different codes for the door because they kept messing up. The teaching was completedly inadequate; on my first shift, I knew how to use the software but nobody had told me the laptop's password, where the key to the storage room was etc. There's no autonomy, leadership, or structure whatsoever. I felt like I was in a psychiatric ward. I absolutely do not recommend this place.

Very good experience, José Ignacio is a very good host, he was always available when I needed him and he fulfilled everything agreed. It served me a lot as a learning experience in running a hostel and in customer service. Vitoria-Gasteiz is very well connected and it is possible to know many places from there on your days off.
Without a doubt I would recommend it as an experience if you are looking for a volunteer opportunity where you can learn reception and guest service at a hostel.

My experience at the hostel in Victoria was very good. The team is super welcoming and from the start they clearly explained the tasks and schedules, all in a fair way. José Ignacio, the owner, is very kind and makes the volunteers feel well received. In addition, the hostel is central, which makes it easy to travel around the city and take advantage of the days off. Very grateful, I could not have chosen a better experience in Victoria. ✌️

I had an excellent experience as a volunteer at this hostel. From day one they made me feel part of a family. The atmosphere is super welcoming, there’s always good energy, and both the team and the guests create a very special community.
The volunteer organization was very good: clear tasks, fair schedules, and a lot of respect for personal time. Moreover, the staff were always willing to help and listen to suggestions. I learned a lot, met people from all over the world, and I will treasure memories that I will value forever.
I would definitely recommend this hostel!

My experience was very positive; with Jose Ignacio I always achieved my objectives, and the objectives were exceeded. I am very satisfied with what I learned and the experience is highly recommendable, and I was able to apply what I had learned previously.

THE HOST MADE ME WORK MORE HOURS THAN DUE, SHOUTING IN A RUDE MANNER. THE PLACE CAUGHT FIRE AND HE WASN'T ABLE TO THANK ME FOR PUTTING OUT THE FIRE. HE FABRICATED ALL THE CLIENT REVIEWS. I WOULDN'T RETURN; IT IS SLAVERY OF THE 21ST CENTURY. HE DOES NOT MEET THE AGREED HOURS EITHER. HE MAKES YOU WORK MORE HOURS THAN THOSE DUE — 48 HOURS PER WEEK, VERSUS THE 25 HOURS THAT YOU HAD TO DO IF HE HADN'T TOLD YOU TO GO HOME. HE MADE ME WORK 14 DAYS IN A ROW WITHOUT A SINGLE DAY OFF. THIS IS NOT VOLUNTEERING; IT IS A JOB.

Jose Ignacio replied

Your version does not reflect reality. If the conditions had been those you describe, it is hard to understand why you decided to stay on as a volunteer for almost six months. At no point did you perform the hours you claim. You received several warnings for the way you treated some guests, even shouting at them, which led to numerous complaints. It is enough to review the ratings and comments published by guests on Booking between November

Volunteering went well, it lived up to everything it promised. The hostel is nice and modern, it has a lot of movement and a dynamic atmosphere. José, the host, is always available for any questions or inquiries that arise and Alfonso is a great help in day-to-day tasks. Fradis also adds a lot to the team. Overall my experience was positive :)
