Program Details

The East Lombok English Teaching Program is a community-based educational initiative designed to support students in developing practical English skills and self-confidence. Participants contribute to both formal and informal educational environments, working alongside local teachers and community leaders to create engaging, student-centered learning experiences.

The program operates five days per week (Monday to Friday), with weekends free. During their time in East Lombok, participants immerse themselves in the local culture, collaborate with schools, and support language development through interactive and communicative teaching methods.

In formal schools, participants assist with English lessons at elementary (SD), junior high (MTs), and vocational high schools (SMK). The focus is on improving speaking skills, pronunciation, vocabulary development, and classroom engagement.

In the afternoon, participants teach at Bridge Future Course, a community-based informal learning center. Here, the emphasis is on building students’ confidence in using English in real-life contexts through games, discussions, storytelling, and creative activities.

The program also integrates experiential learning. Once a week, students participate in an outdoor class designed to encourage active learning in a natural setting. Additionally, cooking sessions are organized weekly, where participants and students prepare simple dishes together while practicing English in a relaxed and interactive environment.
