Our time at the eco village was a very special experience! We have been truly surprised by the village, the people living there and the incredible nature. the eco village team works on great projects to sustain the ancient Hindoe Tengger tribe and we have met the best local people! We felt very welcome and basically created a plan together for the days we spent there. We were invited to join a very special Ceremony at the village temple, met people, shared food together and played gamelan music. We also visited a school and had great conversations about the cultural system. We hope to visit again!

April invited us into her home, her family, her neighbourhood - her whole life. She and her team - Ayu and Hendra - were there every step of the way and they went beyond the Indonesian hospitality. Even though it was my first volunteer experience, I feel like I picked a very special and rare gem. Everyday, they had surprises and so many adventures in store for us. It can't get more local and authentic like this. Be prepared to experience authentic rural Java, be flexible and open and you'll have memories in your heart for the rest of your life.

I had a wonderful time with April and Ayu at the eco village! I had the chance to try many local foods (no sambal for breakfast 😂) and visit hidden natural gems, two waterfalls and two temples, that I wouldn't otherwise have been able to see on my own. I also got to see Mount Semeru at sunrise, absolutely incredible! It looks otherworldly! Everyone is so friendly and welcoming, I felt at ease and right at home! If you're in East Java, this is your chance to have an authentic Indonesian experience that you don't wanna miss. Thank you so much April and Ayu, see you again! 😄

It's an amazing place, vibe, and people. Staying in Mr. Wira's house with his family, the staff, and the volunteers made me feel at home like no other place. The staff is amazing; I'm grateful to have met G, April, Ekmal, Zack, Frisya and Dandi. Beautiful people that are creating a wonderful experience for volunteers and locals, giving the opportunity to really understand and live Tenggerese, Javanese and Indonesian culture. I have memories and experiences that will be with me my whole life. Hopefully some day I'll be able to get back to this amazing place.

Visiting Kandagan and was such a beautiful experience. The waterfalls and surrounding nature were absolutely breathtaking it felt like stepping into a hidden paradise. What made the trip even more special was the incredible hospitality of the people in the village. Everyone was so warm and welcoming, making me feel at home right away. The schedule was also very nice and flexible, which gave me time to really take everything in and enjoy the moments without feeling rushed. It's a wonderful feeling to be welcomed so openly, and it truly made this experience unforgettable.
