Program Details
We host volunteers who enjoy practical outdoor work and a peaceful countryside setting. Our home is set on a wooded property near Glanmire, about twenty minutes from Cork City. The land includes mature trees, garden areas and outdoor spaces that we are gradually developing and improving.
Volunteers stay in our private self-contained woodland cabin, which is normally used for guest accommodation. It includes a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen area and living space, and sits among the trees with access to our barrel sauna. It offers privacy and comfort in a quiet rural environment.
This opportunity is best suited to people who genuinely enjoy outdoor projects and take satisfaction in practical, hands-on work.
Activities & Shift
Volunteers usually help for around 5 hours per day, five days per week, with flexibility depending on weather and projects.
Typical activities include:
. gardening and planting
. clearing and maintaining woodland areas
. creating or improving paths and outdoor spaces
. fencing and small building projects
. occasional painting or light maintenance tasks
Most of the work is outdoors and can be physical, so this position suits people who are reasonably fit, practical and comfortable using basic tools.
Work generally takes place during daylight hours, leaving free time to relax, explore the local countryside or visit Cork City.
Rules
We aim to keep the atmosphere respectful, calm and independent. Clear communication and a positive attitude toward the work are important.
Basic expectations include:
. no smoking inside the cabin or house
. respect for the property and surrounding countryside
. keeping accommodation tidy
. as the cabin is on our private property, volunteers may not invite visitors or overnight guests
. we normally begin work in the morning and ask volunteers to be ready to start at the agreed time
. suitable clothing for outdoor work
. advance notice if you plan to be away for the day or overnight
We are offering comfortable private accommodation in a beautiful setting, and in return we ask for genuine engagement with the projects and a willingness to contribute consistently during agreed hours.
