Program Details
Permaculture thinking gives practical solutions to many of the challenges in our world; from soil degradation and food security to community resilience and climate change. It teaches us how to design systems where people and nature do really well together.
Join our 6-week Practical Permaculture Design Course at permaculture farm Bogata Šuma and learn by doing. Instead of sitting and listening to theory, you will work directly with the land; observing, designing, planting, building, and experiencing permaculture in everyday life.
If you want to deepen your skills, get more confidence in designing regenerative systems, and immerse yourself in real hands-on learning, this course is for you. Come learn, experiment, and grow with us!
"This PDC doesn’t just teach permaculture; it behaves like it"
This course is hands on and interactive. It is 6 weeks community living in our chosen group culture, with Cultural Emergence, sociocracy and other great tools being practiced. Permaculture design will be explained, demonstrated, explored and experienced.
We will start with an overview of what permaculture is, how ethics and principles help you with decision making, reading the landscape, how to setup ecological food growing systems, including several ways to build healthy soil, make compost and fertilizers, companion planting. We will find permaculture solutions for micro-local problems.
You will learn about soil, water, setting up a food forest, companion planting and tree guilds, animal care, natural building techniques, metal working, textiles, waste cycling, food preparation & preservation, wild foraging, how to take care of your health with herbs, how to make natural cleaning products and other ways to apply permaculture thinking in life.

Rules
An important rule in our household is that you are able to laugh.
We welcome you as you and we don't appreciate advocates for a battle that doesn't need to be fought here. Who you are matters for us; not what colours your skin has, what gender you identify with or who you prefer in your bed. That is not an issue here. We have hosted warriors who dominate the atmosphere with what others can or cannot say. We enjoy a light atmosphere and we might not be \"politically correct\" because we don't believe in politics. We believe in us all being humans and caring for the world.
We eat locally sourced, delicious meals that are varied and will keep your body well nourished. We do not cater a vegan diet.
