Martin is gentle, easygoing and thoughtful, with a curious mind that makes you want to keep listening. Staying at his home reminded me that the most meaningful experiences are often found in the simplest things. Everything felt easy and natural, with peace in the quiet moments, companionship in everyday life, and always something new to learn. I loved our days together, our conversations, and sharing the road with him. He welcomed me into his world, which for a while felt a little like my own. I leave with beautiful memories and a little piece of my heart left in Sweden.

As a first time volunteer, Martin made me feel at ease from the minute I met him. He created a warm and welcoming environment and I felt like I was at home. He is incredibly knowledgeable so we always had great conversations and I got to experience different parts of Sweden, making it an authentic and memorable experience. If you are a nature person and enjoy hikes this is the perfect stay for you! He is super flexible and easy going with working hours. The jobs he needed done were always manageable because of his special tools. I loved my stay and couldn't recommend Martin enough! Tack!

As a host, Martin does a spectacular job: he accommodates well, the food is always there and you can have anything within reasons, the place is cozy and the conditions of living are perfect
He does a great job showing you the cultural aspects of Sweden: traditional food, dancing, celebration, traditions, language
Work wise, Martin is super chill and allows you to take your time and actually finish the job with no need to rush which is something that I value
As a person, he is super chill and outgoing, even though he might come off as a bit “old fashioned”. Feel free to ask me more!

Martin is a very cool and relaxed person. He really take care of you as a person and it’s not all about work. I feel like the worktime was really fair. Sometimes feel like he is a bit of an absent mind professor but it’s funny. He like to share his big knowledge in many different topics.
You can get nice fresh bread there:D
The nature around the house is wonderful. In the free time you can go fishing or exploring the island.
Tack Tack Martin:D

I can only recommend this experience for everyone who wants to connect with the swedish culture and especially the nature. The tast were very doable, you'll get to work with many power tools too which makes the work even more fun. Martin is flexible with the working hours, you'll have plenty of free time and he'll introduce you of cause to the swedish culture and also many dishes :)
The area is quite remote, so it takes a while to get to other places, but it is very beautiful. Thank you so much, Martin!

I'm so happy I chose the home. The tasks were easy and well organized, which made the work even more enjoyable. Martin was also having plenty of equipment and power tools that made the work even more enjoyable and fun. Martin was very welcoming and kind, and he even showed me around Sweden, which I really appreciated. He also cooked traditional Swedish dishes, and I had plenty of free time to explore on my own and with the others staying there. Martin always making sure that everyone has a good time and he is always open for your point of view. Overall a fantastic experience!

Staying was comfortable. The food was typical Sweden food (if you want something different from the groceries you have to pay for it or if you eat out) and my room was perfect for me. The tasks were simple and there are plenty of tools. However, upon arrival I wasn't prepared for the house's distance from the town and the lack of public transporta (1h30 by car 6h by foot) I had to leave early so for the return I had to agree a date and hour that the host likes and the ferry time (not flexible). There are some hikes but not many activities nearby. It's just an island to connect with nature.

My High Coast house is 35 mins by car to Härnösand, not 1.5h. To claim otherwise is misleading. There is public transport: a bus runs twice every weekday (morning/afternoon). I gladly pick up/drop off guests usually between 10 am and 8 pm, but I do not drive at 4:30 am, sorry. Claiming few activities is a stretch: besides hikes, there are bikes, sauna, sandy beach, fishing, Sweden's biggest Cold War base, moose safari, and you even joined me on the day trip to the waterfall and unique places.
