Program Details

PRIMOK is a community English program located in Cañar, Ecuador, focused on providing children and teenagers with access to quality English education and meaningful cultural exchange.

Students attend classes after school in small groups. Lessons are designed to be interactive and engaging, using games, conversation activities, and practical exercises that help students develop confidence in speaking and understanding English.

International volunteers support our local teachers during classes. They help with pronunciation, conversation practice, group activities, and by sharing their culture and experiences with the students. This interaction is very valuable because many of our students rarely have the opportunity to communicate with people from other countries.

Our program also focuses on creating a welcoming community environment. Volunteers are treated as part of our team and daily life, allowing them to experience Ecuadorian culture while making a positive impact on the education and motivation of our students. 🌎📚

Activities & Shift

Volunteers in our program work from Tuesday to Saturday and have three days off each week. In the mornings, we focus on lesson planning and preparation, and in the afternoons we teach classes.

We also believe that community and team connection are very important. At least two days a week, we try to organize activities where the team can spend time together, such as playing volleyball, sharing meals, celebrating birthdays or local festivities, and when possible visiting the host families. These moments help create a welcoming environment and strengthen the cultural exchange experience. 🌎🤝

Rules

Volunteers will share a house together. Each volunteer has a specific day assigned to use the washing machine to ensure everyone has fair access.

The program provides breakfast and lunch, while dinner is prepared by the volunteers. We also provide basic ingredients for cooking, but if volunteers wish to prepare something specific, they will need to purchase those ingredients themselves.

Each volunteer is responsible for keeping their own room clean and for helping maintain the cleanliness of the shared common areas.
