This experience has helped me grow a lot, in many different ways! The host, is extremely knowledgeable, welcoming and smart, and he's taught me a lot about the plants and the local natural environment. The only downside is that he was often not at the camp (understandable) so sometimes the tasks weren't very clear when one of his local helper was in charge. Akka's cooking is fabulous and the place is really wonderful. We also visited a lot of beautiful places during free days! I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to connect fully with nature and building meaningful international friendships!

I had the Most amazing Time here and I will never forget the Great memories that now Connect me to this lovely Place. Everybody is so warm and welcoming. I had the Most amazing Food and we spent the Time together planting trees, removing invasive plants, playing Games and visiting different locals places. I would definitely come back and would recommend it to everybody who likes to disconnect and reconnect with nature while learning about the Local Culture.

I was here only for a few days, since I cought the flu shortly before arriving. Saj , his son Akka and the other workers were extremely welcoming and understanding, fed me amazing food, we played together cards and some local games, showed me around and I had some facanating conversations here! I didn't feel for the slightest moment presure to get back to work since I felt under the weather which I'm so thankful for!
This Volonteering position gives the best of you can ask for to get to know the local cultur ,to connect with nature and doings something truly meaningful for the environment!

I had an amazing time here. I got to really disconnect digitally and connect with nature, get my hands dirty, and eat some AMAZING food. Couldn't recommend this enough to those who really love an adventure and like to be in nature

I had the amazing opportunity to participate in this project and I loved it! I met the sweetest people ever! The host, Jay; and the cook, Akka, were super kind, always willing to help. I also shared my days with people from UK, Germany and Sri Lanka, and it was a lot of fun ! We used to work together and play lots of fun card games among many other things!
The work it self was really nice, we often woke up early to remove invasive plants while having a crazy good view of the Rain forest :)
And the food.. wow! If you want to try some local food this is a prefect place for u!

if you have the opportunity to do this project i would do it!! it felt like time stopped over there. i met such lovely people and getting your hands dirty in nature felt very rewarding. here you will really get to experience the true local lifestyle and go to spots other tourist normally wouldn’t go to.

Thank you so so much Akka, she took such great care of everyone, amazing food, and worked so hard! This place is amazing, you really feel connected with nature and feel at home. The work we did, pulling out weeds from the fields, was very rewarding and was fun to do with other volunteers. there was quite a lot of freedom when it came to working, we changed what time we started often. Saj our host was extremely friendly but not at base camp a lot so i unfortunately didnt get to know more about him or his project. I thank Balangoda and all the ppl I've met

I was meant to stay at the project for 3 and a half weeks, I only stayed 10 days! The sleeping arrangements were never clear and the male project lead frequently slept next to solo, female volunteers even when other options were available. On the 7th day of my visit, a volunteer made me aware that the project lead had groped 2 female volunteers in the night whilst sleeping next to them. I do not recommend this project to anyone, volunteers and interns should not be allowed to go here for their own safety. We had people before you & after you and even now enjoying this project & people at the project without any complaints. We allowed the two of you as a couple although in most cases in Sri Lanka they would not fancy LGBT couples & I wish that you would only speak of your experience without knowing anything that happened or took place unless you were under the influence of substances as some. I am 100% certain that you had nothing to complain but grouping with a few from 25 people we had in Feb.

I had an incredible two weeks volunteering here! The work is straightforward and rewarding (make sure you bring breathable long sleeve tops and long pants for being in the rainforest!!) I will genuinely never forget the time I had here. Thank you all so much for everything 🩷 The meaningful conversations, movie nights, games and laughter will always have a special place in my heart. I hope to come back one day (I already miss deeply Akka's incredible food and my amazing conversations with the other volunteers. I learnt an incredible amount about Sri Lanka and its nature. 🩷🙏
