Program Details

We are a family passionate about nature, simplicity and good coexistence. We live on a small farm on the north coast of Espírito Santo, where we grow plants, take care of chickens and develop land regeneration practices.

We are looking for proactive volunteers, curious and open-minded, who want to collaborate with our project and, at the same time, enjoy the calm and natural beauty of a small town with a lot to offer💚

Maintaining a small farm has its challenges... there are many tasks and activities that we can't handle on our own. That's why we decided to open our home to share what we have learned along our journey caring for the land and living in a rural town.

At this moment, we have several areas of work in need of support:

- routine tasks around the main house, such as: helping with meal preparation; cleaning and organizing the house and kitchen; washing kitchen towels and bed linens; sweeping the garage and yard; collecting trash;
- gardening and animal care tasks, such as: pruning trees; preparing beds; cleaning the grounds and collecting leaves and branches from trees; caring for chickens and cats.
- maintenance and repair tasks, such as: assisting with plumbing and electrical work; painting and decorating walls and furniture; cleaning and organizing spaces; supporting the repair of fences and other structures.

No prior experience is necessary, but lots of willingness to learn and help :)"

Activities & Shift

- the general rule is 18 hours per week excluding meals, but depending on tasks (events and work-groups) other agreements may be necessary (such as including meals in exchange for some extra activities, for example)
- tasks such as watering the plants and taking care of the chickens (when necessary) happen in the morning (between 7:00 and 8:00) and in the late afternoon (between 17:00 and 18:00); other activities are quite flexible and can be arranged according to demand and availability;
- the same applies to days off. Generally, 2 days per full week, but other agreements can be made depending on demand/task and your interest and availability."

Rules

Our space is sacred, a calm and quiet environment, so we do not allow:

- loud music, alcohol, smoking inside the house, parties and hosting external visitors.

We value organization and cleanliness for good convivium and well-being, therefore we ask you:

- to keep the areas you use, especially the common ones, always clean and organized;

- to always ask before using something in the house.

We value mutual respect and dialogue, therefore we encourage you to communicate:

- in a transparent and respectful way about your limits and needs;

- about any structural issues or problems that arise during your stay;

- when you break or damage something (even by accident);

- if you disagree with any attitude, task or rule.

AT THE END OF THE PROGRAM (on the day of departure or the day before) it is very IMPORTANT that you leave your room, bathroom and kitchen clean and organized for the next volunteer. This includes:

- sweeping and wiping the floor in the room;
- cleaning the bathroom, especially the toilet;
- cleaning countertops, shelves, fridge and stove in the kitchen;
- leaving all dishes washed and organized;
- sweeping the kitchen;
- collecting all waste and disposing of it according to the VOLUNTEER MANUAL instructions."
