We are a family-owned and operated outdoor center, located in a small town in the beautiful Costa Rican countryside. We are seeking an experienced Class 3/4 kayaker to assist with whitewater kayak instruction, running safety for raft trips, and photographing trips, with the option to raft guide on occasion. This is a great opportunity for a hard-working individual to share their skills with a growing outdoor center business.

Experience la pura vida in beautiful Costa Rica! Do you love to be outside all day long, experience new cultures and cuisines, meet new people, and work hard on a team? Lend us a hand at the Sarapiqui Outdoor Center, a constantly growing whitewater center, located right on the Sarapiqui River in La Virgen, Heredia. Volunteers should come pre-equipped with swiftwater rescue knowledge and skills and the ability to teach/guide class 3/4 whitewater kayaking. As in any outdoor position, flexibility and the ability to stay calm in high-pressure situations is a must. All volunteers are expected to be on time, be customer service-oriented, work as a team, and follow instructions.
-Follow course guidelines for whitewater kayak instruction.
-Maintain safety for clinics and trips.
-Deliver high quality customer service to guests.
-Set up gear for guests.
-Clearly communicate safety guidelines and precautions to guests.
-Wash and return all gear to its proper storage space after clinics and trips.
-Create a safe and enjoyable experience for participants on and off the water.
-Be on time and prepared for trips.
-Follow safety guidelines.
-Be mindful of noise in the evenings and those spaces that are off-limits. There are family members who live on-site.
-Clean up after yourself in the kitchen. Leave the kitchen and communal spaces in good condition for the next person.
-Respect mother nature. Dispose of trash properly. Compost when possible.
-It is preferred that volunteers not drink alcohol on site.
