I had an amazing time on this beautiful island which truly looked like paradise. There, I experienced so many things for the first time, like seeing whales and dolphins, sleeping on a boat, and jumping into waterfalls. What I appreciated the most was the kindness of the people, who welcomed me like family from day one. Also there was no fixed schedule, and every day was a new surprise, which perfectly matched the relaxed vibe of the island. I highly recommend joining this meaningful project if you're looking for an unforgettable experience. No stress, no worries, just relax and enjoy!!

Our time at Lembata was full of fun, adventure, and learning. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who loves the laid-back remote island lifestyle and people who are committed to making a difference for the community and coastal communities.

An experience like no other! The people were so friendly, especially Galang. I have stories of climbing an erupting volcano, releasing baby turtles, watching dolphins and staying with a local family. I'd recommend it to laid-back people who love adventure. However, I came for the community and, over 3.5 weeks, only planted the community, mangroves and helped with turtles once or twice. There was no set schedule, and the accommodation was poor. Getting there was horrific, and the eruption meant I couldn't leave(flights cancels) For a PAID experience, I expected more and left feeling under appreciated.

Overall I enjoyed my stay. During my time I planted mangroves once, the community a few times and explored the island with other guests and a local guide who was amazing and went everywhere with us. We also went to a traditional village on the other side of the island. This project is not free and has a daily fee for board and materials. The travel to get there is tricky and expensive as the local airport often closes and cancels flights and the alternative way is by ferry which takes many hours.

I was supposed to spend 18 days in Lembata and had organized my entire trip to Indonesia around this volunteering opportunity, for which I had created a Worldpackers account.
On the day of my departure by boat from Kupang, other Worldpackers told me about incidents involving John and advised me not to go there. I chose to prioritize my safety. Although I hadn't personally experienced any serious incident, John's messages after my cancellation made me uncomfortable. Finally, I regretted that the financial contribution wasn't indicated on Worldpackers and was only communicated to me late.
