My experience at the hostel was incredible! It was my first time in Taiwan, and I couldn't have picked a better place to call home for a few weeks. Alan is a wonderful host who makes you feel welcome and sometimes even brings food and snacks during shifts. The tasks are simple, and the hostel is magical at night when the crowds disappear. There's so much nature and so many villages to explore nearby, and transportation is easy. The hostel isn't super social, so you'll have plenty of time for yourself and to hang out with the other volunteers. Highly recommend!!

The hostel is a beautiful place. After working for four hours each day, I can wander around and explore. I often get to chat with the backpackers visiting here, and we even go hiking or exploring the surroundings together. It's been a really cool experience!

I had an amazing volunteering experience and truly enjoyed my time there. the hostel is such a beautiful place, the views are absolutely breathtaking, there are plenty of scenic hikes nearby, and it has a peaceful atmosphere that makes you feel at home. Volunteering at OnMyWay Hostel was an incredible experience. the hostel is a beautiful small village located in the mountains not far from Taipei. It is a very touristy town and can get very busy during the day, however the evenings are really quiet. the hostel is surrounded by nature, which is exceptional if you like to go on hikes. Alan allows a lot of freedom and is very welcoming. He ensures to help you emerse in local culture and cuisine. I have nothing but fond memories of my time in the hostel and would sincerely recommend anyone who wants to connect with nature, go and participate.

I had a really good time volunteering at the hostel. Alan is a great host, it was always easy to communicate with him and brought us snacks and took us out for dinner sometimes which was really nice. The tasks are clear and you have a lot of free time to explore the area which I really recommend doing, it's definitely one of the most beautiful places I've ever been.

Really nice experience! Alan and the other volunteers were great! Good chance to meet plenty of people. Morning shifts you could get done reasonably quickly, but if you finish early you still have to wait in the hostel untill reception shift in case of visitors arriving early. Which didn't give me as much flexibility to see the surrounding area as I would have liked, as many places don't stay open that late. But with agreeing shifts and days off you still get alot of time to see Taiwan. Despite the many tourists in jiufen there is still plenty to see and a lot of nice nature trails around.
