Program Details

Hello there World traveller!
Thank you for visiting our page.
My hubby and I love people and have just started hosting.
We'd love you to join us on our property 250 metres above Sea Level in a rural and remote place overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
We live on "The Banks Peninsula " 1.5hrs away from Christchurch City in the South Island of New Zealand.
There's no neighbour's for 5kms but we live in a very friendly Bay.
We are needing an extra pair of hands whether it's tidying up the section ie: weed eating, mowing lawns, raking, tree trimming, leaf blowing, water blasting. watering shrubs & plants & fruit trees. And planting a native seedling or tree. If that's something you're interested in helping with thats great! And will be greatly appreciated.
Alternatively, if you do possess some building skills, to help finish a cottage and some finishing on the main house that would be great too! It's a project my hubby's working on and that he could sure use some help with. He has many skills to share and teach you if you don’t possess them. There’s a concrete path to lay, and various other odd jobs that come up.
We have Chickens to feed and we raise homing Pigeons.
You don't have to have all the skills to stay and work along with us. You’ll learn new skills along the way
So long as you do 4 hrs work a day please.
On wet days, there's some housework or odd jobs to do in the shed fixing something that hubby's involved in & could use & extra pair of hands to help with.
We also can offer you the experience of making something to take home with you in your spare time If you so wish to do so.
We have amazing sunsets up here.
We love to watch movies in the evenings which you're welcome to join in on.
Come and enjoy typical New Zealand cuisine. Meet the locals and enjoy the beautiful rural farming life in one of New Zealands most beautiful areas.
There are many Bays on the Banks Peninsular to explore and lots of opportunities to fish & kayak (we have kayaks for your use) swimming in the Ocean and lovely Hikes all over the hills. There's some fabulous native bush walks here too with waterfalls.
You'll love it!
We'd love to learn about you and your culture while you're here.
It's refreshing meeting people from all walks of life and we want to share our place with you as a safe and rewarding haven in New Zealand on your travels.
There's a quaint little French Village 3/4hrs away from our place. Also half n hour away is a general store in Du Vauchelle that sells fish n chips which is an iconic New Zealanders meal to enjoy. There's also a camping ground there. There's one in Pigeon Bay next to our bay too.
There is also another cute and popular village called "Little River" half n hour away that has a wonderful rustic Cafe, post office across the road, Art Gallery, a librar, weekend market and service station plus a few other interesting shops that sell local crafts and artwork. Plus a couple of pubs.
There's a native tree nursery there too where we get our native trees from to plant
We want to extensively plant our 5 hectares with native trees to generate that growth on the Banks Peninsular and attract a diverse range of birds to our place.
We get a variety of birds visiting our property. One is our native bell bird with a distinctive song which is very beautiful. Plus Kingfishers, fantails, plover, Canadian geese, the odd Grey Heron, wood Pigeons, Swallows, Hawks, Thrush's, Starlings Sparrows, a variety of Finches and also magpies, blackbirds and even sometimes the long tail Cuckoo. The odd Quail turns up & on rare occasions a Pheasant.
Our property is surrounded by a neighbours massive Sheep and Cattle station. You may occasionally see the musterer or Shepherd on his horse with his dogs on the hillsides.
The farm workers regularly go up and down the road next to our place while working. You'll most likely see the Cattle or Sheep being mustered up and down this road from time to time. There's shearing sheds below our property where the Sheep get shorn. If you've never experienced seeing this before we can arrange for you to observe it.
It's a very peaceful and serene lifestyle here as we are very rural.
There's a push bike here for you to use also motorbikes when they're running plus we have a 4 wheeler motorbike to do errands on the property with. We also have an adults go-cart which is a lot of fun.
We love Coffee and we have a barista machine, plus a filtered Coffee machine and plungers.
We quite like enjoying a wine on our front deck overlooking the Ocean as the view is amazing. We quite often see the sailing boats sail past as there's a yacht club in the bay next to us. And we always see cruise ships and other ships going past our bay, too and from Lyttleton Port a few bays over.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
We offer a respectful peaceful way of life here and you will be most welcome in our world!
