Program Details
At Maanyi Community Development Centre, volunteers become part of a grassroots initiative focused on empowering rural communities through practical skills and sustainable solutions. Our work centers on vocational training, mushroom cultivation and school gardening projects that promote income generation, food security and environmental awareness.
As a volunteer, you will support day-to-day activities such as assisting trainers during skills sessions, participating in mushroom growing processes, helping establish and maintain school gardens, preparing training materials and engaging with community members. Your contribution directly supports youth and women in gaining hands-on skills for self-reliance.
A typical day involves a few hours of structured activities alongside our local team, with time to interact with trainees, share ideas, and learn from the community. Flexibility is important, as tasks may vary depending on ongoing programs and seasonal activities.
In return, we offer a meaningful cultural exchange, a chance to experience rural Ugandan life and the opportunity to be part of a growing initiative—we are currently halfway through building our Skills Development Centre. Volunteers will gain practical experience in community development, sustainable agriculture and grassroots project implementation.
We value volunteers who are adaptable, respectful, proactive and willing to work collaboratively in a simple, resource-limited setting.
