Cultural Events Volunteer – Seasonal Saraus
The experience
Seasonal Saraus are community gatherings held in March, June, and September, welcoming 40–50 people. Inspired by traditional celebrations, everyone is invited to share food, music, poetry, and stories. Volunteers help with planning, setup, decoration, guest reception, event support, and cleanup. Local musicians are invited, but all participants are encouraged to actively join and co-create the experience.

Program Details
Volunteers usually engage more intensively around the event date, with lighter support before and after. Basic English or Portuguese communication is helpful. Interest in arts, music, and community life is a plus. The environment is informal and nature-based, so flexibility and adaptability are important.
This role focuses on hands-on experience in small-scale cultural event production. Volunteers will learn how to organize community gatherings from start to finish, including logistics, space preparation, participant flow, and coordination with local artists and contributors.
Activities & Shift
Tasks may include preparing shared food areas, organizing materials, assisting performers, managing small demands during the event, and supporting transitions between activities. Volunteers may also help decorate the space and document the event (photos/videos) if they have interest.
Rules
- Be present and engaged during assigned periods
- Communicate clearly with the team
- Take care of shared tools and materials
- Avoid excessive alcohol consumption during shifts
- Respect the local culture and community dynamics
