The experience

Hey there 👋
We're Jade and Shekhar, and This Is It has been our home and our livelihood on Arambol beach since 2014. Our little one Advaita was practically born into this space.

Now we're rebuilding it. Slowly, thoughtfully, with materials that actually belong on a coastline - bamboo, mud, lime, natural fibre. And we're looking for someone who wants to be part of that.

Program Details

Here's the honest reality: building anything on the Arambol beach fron is a genuine challenge. The monsoon is not gentle. Salt air is relentless. Humidity is a fact of life. Any structure here has to be built in true relationship with where it is and supporting environment, and working with it.

We're looking for someone to creatively be part of the plan. We have ideas, we have a vision for what this space can become, and we want someone who can think alongside us - who looks at a coastal site and sees the problem and the possibility. The work involves improving rooms, creating wellness space between tress on the cliff, shaded areas, developing natural seating structures, working on the kitchen environment, and creating spaces that feel like they grew.

Everything comes in by foot or two-wheeler. No four-wheel access to the site. That shapes how you source, how you plan, how you build. It's a real constraint and honestly one of the things that makes the work more interesting.

What we're looking for:
Hands-on experience with bamboo joinery, cob or mud brick, lime plaster, thatching, or any combination of natural building in humid climates.

Photos or a portfolio of previous work help us understand where you're coming from. Physical comfort with heat and humidity is important. We want someone who can work independently but also loves to problem-solve together.

What you get:
A real build, in a real place, with real conditions that will develop your skills in ways a gentler climate simply can't. Creative input - this is genuinely collaborative, not just execution. All meals included.
