The experience

Stay in my cozy apartment and lend a hand with 2 hours dog care and 3 hours cleaning per day. You’ll have plenty of free time to explore the town with easy access to Copenhagen for day trips (40 minutes by train). I have a lot of work to do from home, so this is a great fit for an independent traveller who enjoys a quiet homestay.

Program Details

I’m an easygoing host who has hosted over 12 volunteers this year. I value a low-stress environment. I have a lot of work and personal things to catch up on and just need help with pet care. Also, a little travel photography. The tasks are light to moderate. What interested me about Worldpackers, was the community and building relationships. I understand travelling well, as I myself am "far from home" as an Australian living in Sweden for many years. The experience is relaxed and independent. We respect the volunteer's time, always. You will have a freshly made single bed in the living room- your own "room" sectioned off with 2 large dividing walls. You will have a desk, coffee table, draws, couch, access to balcony and sitting area outside. Your space is private and your own. Most volunteers who stayed in our other position- the cottage homestay, also stayed in this apartment in Lund and have positive reviews. It is 1 minute to tram (only 8 minutes tram ride to the city centre of Lund) and 3 minutes walk to the dog park and nature or countryside trails.

Note: The images on the worldpackers website are for our other rennovating position (which is closed for the year now) which was held at our cottage. It is closed for the year now. This new position for pet care opens November or December in Lund in our 45 m2 apartment. I can send specific photos of our apartment on request. Most of the volunteers from our cottage position have stayed in the apartment in Lund. So, you can talk to them about it.

Activities & Shift

Volunteer hours: 9am-11am and 1 hour later in the evening (3 hours per day).

3 hours help each day: Exercise, train and care for my 12 month old high energy breed dog in the morning for 2 hour and then in the afternoon/evening 1 hour each day.

Exercise and basic training for the pup. Also other basic pet care like feeding the dog, grooming, washing the dog, drying, basic brushing, brushing teeth, or other depending on what is needed. We also need help taking some travel photography around Lund, on hiking trails, in Copenhagen, Malmo or other places if you visit there. We have examples of travel photos we love on Pinterest that we need replicating for a website.

No experience needed.

Rules

Quiet time after 8pm. Louder phone calls before 10pm please.
Shoes off inside.
Helping with clean up after meals.

We value a clean and respectful living environment, so keeping shared spaces tidy is important to us, along with open and honest communication to make sure everyone feels comfortable and understood. We appreciate volunteers who are proactive, considerate, and willing to be part of a positive and easygoing atmosphere. In return, we offer the same.

If there are specific needs, give us time in advance to discuss/prepare them. Ask us as many questions as you want to before your experience with us, so you know what to expect.

Welcome!
