At Viajero San José, experiences are a key part of what makes our hostel special. We are looking for a volunteer who can bring energy, creativity, warmth, and a strong social spirit to our community. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys connecting with travelers, creating fun moments, and helping guests discover both the hostel vibe and the local culture. We want someone who can help us build a lively atmosphere, encourage interaction among guests, support the promotion of activities, and contribute to the unique Viajero experience through positivity, initiative, and great people skills.
You will help plan, organize, and host social activities and local experiences for our guests. This may include encouraging participation, helping create a fun atmosphere in common areas, supporting activity setup, promoting events, interacting with travelers, and recommending local places such as cafés, restaurants, nightlife spots, and attractions. You may also help us create a welcoming environment through music, energy, guest interaction, and community-building moments inside the hostel. Shifts are 6 hours long and are scheduled within a time range between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., depending on operational needs.
We expect our volunteers to be respectful, responsible, punctual, and friendly with guests, staff, and other volunteers. Good communication, teamwork, and a positive attitude are essential for this role. Volunteers must follow house rules, respect schedules, keep shared spaces tidy, and maintain professional behavior during their shifts. Because this is a highly social and guest-facing position, we especially value people who are proactive, inclusive, energetic, and genuinely interested in creating a fun, safe, and welcoming community for everyone.
