Program Details

TESOL Lab is a fee-based teaching and learning program in Da Nang, Vietnam, designed for volunteers who want to develop practical teaching skills in a meaningful and community-based environment. The program combines self-paced online TESOL training with an onsite teaching practicum, allowing participants to build knowledge before gaining hands-on classroom experience with real learners.

Participants complete the online theory phase at their own pace before joining the onsite practicum in Da Nang for either 2 or 4 weeks, depending on the track selected. During the onsite phase, participants receive mentorship, supervised teaching practice, and guidance tailored to different age groups and learning environments. The program may include placements in kindergartens, language centers, universities, and other educational settings depending on availability.

Accommodation, meals, airport pickup and drop-off, mentorship, teaching practicum, and learning materials are included in the program fee. Participants also receive a 120-hour TESOL certification and documented teaching practice. This is not a free volunteer exchange, but a structured, fee-based program with full details available in our brochure.

Activities & Shift

Participants take part in a mix of training, observation, lesson preparation, teaching support, and supervised classroom practice. Daily activities may include assisting in English classes, observing experienced teachers, preparing materials, planning lessons with mentors, co-teaching, and leading parts of classroom sessions depending on the participant's progress and confidence level.

Shifts vary depending on the teaching placement, student age group, and weekly schedule. Some activities take place in the morning, while others may be scheduled in the afternoon or early evening, especially in language center settings. In addition to teaching-related responsibilities, participants may also join reflection sessions, feedback meetings, and community or cultural activities connected to the wider C4C experience in Da Nang.

The program is designed as a learning experience, so responsibilities increase gradually. Participants are expected to engage actively, communicate openly with mentors, and approach each placement with professionalism, flexibility, and respect for students and local partners.

Rules

Participants are expected to act professionally and respectfully at all times during the program. Punctuality, clear communication, and a positive attitude toward learning are essential.

Participants must:

attend scheduled training sessions, teaching practice, and mentoring activities
respect local culture, community values, and school environments
follow guidance from mentors and placement coordinators
behave appropriately with students, staff, and other participants
take care of accommodation, teaching materials, and shared spaces
communicate in advance if they are unwell or unable to attend an activity
avoid any behaviour that may negatively affect students, the community, or the reputation of the program

The use of illegal drugs, disrespectful conduct, harassment, or repeated failure to follow program expectations may result in removal from the program without refund.

For full information about the program structure, inclusions, and fees, participants should review the official TESOL Lab brochure before confirming their place.
