Program Details
Here at Himmelbjerggården, we highly value everyone’s contribution. We want everyone to be cocreators in the activities that take place here and help move the energy as a team with the best that they have to offer. That is why we have adopted the term “WeCreators”.
“Sustainability and regenerative practice” - I will strive to ensure that my actions are done with an awareness of environmental sustainability, as well as self- and group sustainability. I will contribute to community goals and initiatives that promote sustainability (e.g. recycling, composting, using produce from the gardens and the land when possible, upcycling and fixing when possible, turn down heating when airing a space and in general when not needed, dry clothes and sheets outside etc.)
You will most likely live in our co-living house “Buen” (or a tiny house nextdoor), where you will have a single or shared room, shared facilities as bathroom, kitchen, dining/living room and laundry facilities.
If not be sure to ask. In general, behave with consideration for others and take responsibility in holding a nourishing space, physically as well as socially. In the house, there are quiet hours between 21:00 (10PM) and 8:00 on week days (22:00 weekends). Please be respectful of other people living in Buen and keep music/the TV/talking volume down or with headphones during these hours.
Getting here is relatively easy from Ry, which has a train station then depending on the time of day you can get a local bus or book a “Flextrafik” (a state subsides taxi - normally about 25kr). We may also be able to pick you up from Ry depending on availability. If you're travelling with a bicycle it takes 25 minutes to cycle from Ry (mostly on separated bike lanes)
Activities & Shift
All people welcomed into the community as volunteers where you'll help with a range of every day activities and projects. There may also be the option to extend your stay if we have space.
We're currently primarily looking for people to help with our vegetable gardens and grounds and to help with the construction of new spaces and improvements of existing ones. Our gardener has a bunch of projects in mind and needs a hand to implement them.
We expect volunteers to work approximately 5 days a week, 5 hours a day. You will have most weekends free. We often have guests during the weekend, if you help during weekends then you have time off during the week. You are welcome to participate in some of the many projects going on here also in your free time, or give energy to projects that enrich us all.
In exchange for your time, you provided accommodation, food from our gardens and groceries (or money to buy them) for all meals.
When you arrive we'll give you a tour and explain the way the place works, our rules and values. You'll also have an opportunity to work out how best you can help and contribute to the community. In extreme circumstances, we reserve the right to ask people to leave the centre if values or agreements are broken or gravely disrespected, this also applies if you become unable to maintain the work agreement or in case of changes in the organization.
