Program Details
One of our dreams for The Conscious Castle & Farm is to grow more of our own food and slowly create a regenerative garden that can nourish the people who live, volunteer and attend retreats here.
We are at the very beginning of this journey.
Our first greenhouse is being created, and the surrounding garden is still taking shape. This means there is space to experiment, learn and build something meaningful from the ground up.
Your role will be to help us care for, develop and grow this project together.
Depending on the season and what the garden needs, you may help with planning, preparing soil, composting, planting, watering, pruning, organizing seeds and tools, maintaining the greenhouse and creating simple systems for future volunteers.
We are happy to receive new ideas, especially from people who have experience with gardening, permaculture, food forests, composting or greenhouse care.
But ideas should not remain only as suggestions...
We are looking for someone who enjoys turning plans into practical action, working with their hands and staying involved in the everyday care needed to help a garden grow.
You do not need to be an expert. Experience is a beautiful bonus, but dedication, curiosity, initiative and the willingness to learn together are what matter most.
We hope to learn from you, just as you learn from the land and from us.
Activities & Shift
🌱 Greenhouse development
Help prepare, organize and care for our first greenhouse as it slowly becomes a productive growing space.
🌿 Planting and garden care
Support sowing, transplanting, watering, pruning, weeding, harvesting and seasonal maintenance.
🪱 Soil and compost
Help improve the soil, create and maintain compost systems, and find practical ways to reuse organic material.
📝 Planning and systems
Contribute to simple planting plans, seasonal calendars, labels, tool organization and guides that future volunteers can follow.
🌳 Permaculture development
Help us explore regenerative practices, companion planting, water care, biodiversity and the gradual creation of a food-producing garden.
🛠️ Hands-on implementation
Turn agreed ideas into practical steps. This role includes physical work and ongoing maintenance, not only planning.
⏰ Flexible outdoor rhythm
Around 20 hours per week, usually four hours per day with two days off. Working times may adapt to weather, temperature and the needs of plants, in coordination with Joyce and the team. We also hold a 30-minute morning meeting to stay aligned with the team and coordinate the day’s schedule (not included in the 20 hours).
Rules
The Conscious Castle is a substance-free home (ZERO TOLERANCE, outside specific ceremonial contexts). Smoking in any form, alcohol and recreational or hard drugs are not allowed during everyday community life.
We also ask you to:
* Treat the land, plants, animals, tools and shared spaces with care
* Ask before making major changes to the garden or greenhouse
* Discuss new ideas with the team before investing time or materials
* Return tools clean and store them in their correct place
* Communicate when plants, systems or equipment need attention
* Use water, soil and garden materials consciously
* Complete agreed responsibilities consistently
* Join shared meals when you are at home and feel available, while respecting the occasional need for personal space
* Participate in small community-care tasks
* Document useful information so the project can continue after your stay
